Re: Bent Drag Link/ABS System Error

Wow without hitting the drag link I’m surprised it bent. I’d just expect it to move the steering, even with a power steering system you’ll get feedback. And it overcame the stock steering stabilizer. I wonder if you had a faulty drag link. I’ve taken some pretty gnarly hits and bottom-outs with my t...

Re: Bent Drag Link/ABS System Error

This should fix other damage and prevent it from happening again. Oh, and it’s on sale! http://www.pscmotorsports.com/garage-sale/09-2015-dodge-2500-3500-extrerme-cylinder-assist-steering-kit.html My ‘11 pitman does angle slightly downward but I’m not sure if it’s the same part as yours. Re: Bent Drag Link/ABS System Error

You bent your drag link, and not your tie rod? That’s an odd one. Bending the drag link has no affect on alignment but could trip your ABS warning due to the steering wheel position sensor seeing that you keep driving at an angle. Sending you a PM.

Re: PSC Hydro Assist $500 Off

The sale is on the box itself, $500 off. $350 for big bearing boxes and $450 for those boxes tapped for hydro assist. They also have assist cylinders for $80 that have scratched paint (PSC zone -> garage sale). PSC said their boxes are brand new (not reman’s), have larger bearings and sector shafts,...

The rt’s kick ass for mixed use on/off road with occasional towing
Everyone has nice things to say about the RTs better wet weather traction, longer treadlife and the same carcass as the MT while being between a MT and an AT all add up really nicely for my uses.

Hey Damage, what tires are you running now?
Toyo MT’s 285/75R17 (basically 34”x11.5”)

Rocking tires. Only had one flat and that was when I broke a wheel. I’ll be getting 37’s within a few weeks, either the new Yokohama MT’s or the Toyo RT’s.

Re: 4th Gen Frame Rail Width/Height

I’ll grab measurements if I get a chance. The frame along the mid section is generally 2.125” wide I believe. I think 4.5” long 1/2” bolts was what I used when I used two 1/2” sandwich plates and a locknut to mount my prototypes. If you mount at the interface of any frame tubes it’s about 3/8” wider.

Re: Tube Bumpers and OEM Winch Positioning

I need to resize these photos. This is the hybrid bumper I’m working on. There’s going to be a lot of small changes and will be a full bull bar option. Mounts to the frame with a 1” laser cut recovery point, leaves winch in stock location and sits so tight that it doesn’t need a second fairlead even...

The color of the plastic matters more than the color of the truck. Have you tried buying your own double sided tape? My tape has been long gone but I never replace it because I pull my fenders all the time, I just let the screws hold the flares

In my 2011 5.7 I was running Amsoil Signature 10w-30, and now run 0w-30. I don’t really think it matters. I wanted better cold start protection so dropped to a 0W, and I drive the truck pretty hard Offroad so I went with a 30 weight

Yep, I’m with you Twin. Getting to bring somebody back or cut someone out of a car over the ledge of a road definitely makes you feel good inside, but I didn’t work on a fire department for other people. 9 years volunteer, paying for my own gas and uniforms, it wasn’t serving, it was fun and I did i...

Re: Gen 3 Exhaust Manifold Removal Quesiton

My 2011 is probably identical to yours, they didn’t really change much on the engine. I easily did mine without lifting the engine. Some bolts you have to get from underneath but they’re all very accessible. I ordered some new hardware to swap them out at M8x1.25-45mm. That’s the stock length but th...

Re: Recent Warranty Work

It is a little funny to me how the new truck owners find so many little faults with their trucks. Ten years ago guys had real problems with their trucks. Now, it’s down to almost nothing. These trucks are already at the point of reliability of the old import vehicles, and hugely more capable. Sure w...

Re: Painting rock sliders

I used a self etching primer like colibri suggested, then regular rustoleum paint on top. It’s held up fine on the parts that don’t hit stuff. I guess dropping off a step-ledge in Moab at 15mph and hanging the truck on the sliders might have knicked the paint, and the spot I step into the truck ever...

Re: Balance beads ?

http://www.centramatic.com/wheel-balancer.rhtml?modelNumber=300-318 The mounting portion between hub and wheel seems very thin which is nice. They also carry a 5 year unlimited mile warranty. I’ve never run them but I hear very good things about them and I’ll be getting them soon when I get new tires.

Re: Balance beads ?

You can buy Centramatic balances that go between the hub and wheel. Basically lasts about forever for however many sets of tires you run and requires nothing to install. Won’t screw with TPMS sensors. Don’t know about stud length and how thick they are.

Re: next gen wagon

Hopefully they ditch the suspension on the current trucks for an improvement. Drivetrain will see a lot of changes it seems based on the 1500’s but it’s likely to still be the same engines. The axles, trans, transfer case are already ridiculously well built and the payload numbers on the 2500/3500 t...
