Re: Big Time shudder at low speed/low pedal

If it’s the transfer case you could even buy a junkyard one. They’re very stout cases, the same one is used up to the 5500 trucks and is shared with modifications by Ford. If that’s not cost-effective next to a remanned one or parts then it’s up to you which route to go, depending on how intimate yo...

Re: Rambox organization

How’s that for timing. I just got back from shipping these out. These replace the plastic corner caps with rubber isolated, 1/4” steel, powder coated plates with a welded & smoothed tie-down point. Well hells bells. What am I looking at? The mopar rambox kit Santy brought me for Christmas has no co...

Re: Suspension question...again

Get that skid plate in yet? Hahaha The truss seems a lot more necessary on the 14+ trucks than the earlier trucks. The earlier trucks go tube-diff-tube, and that’s pretty much all that’s going to bend unless you hit really hard and then you can bend the upper ‘C’ of the knuckle. On the new trucks it...

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release

I’m really interested in that electric assist motor. This is exactly why they mandated KERS in Formula1 racing.

The heated/cooled rear diff sounds sweet as well. They’re really putting some tech in these trucks. Pano sunroof, moving air dam, optional power folding steps. Gettin all fancy haha

Re: Transmission issue.

Bummer that it cost you $250 but that’s great it’s fixed now! I’m surprised to hear a Wix filter was the cause. I’ve considered Wix to be top tier for filtration outside of commercial donaldson stuff.

Re: Big Time shudder at low speed/low pedal

I don’t make money off em. $6 I’ll ship you a set of hex heads so you don’t have to screw with torx bolts that shear off again. Bummer! Might be time to pull the transfer case and check the input bearings. If your symptoms are same or worse with front shaft off, it might be right at the breaking poi...

Re: Big Time shudder at low speed/low pedal

So I took another tranny guy for a ride and he really thinks it's the front drive shaft. Im in the process of pulling it but the. problem is one of the T40 bolts to the front axle flange is stripped....my luck isn't the best lately. Anyone have any ideas how to get it out? It was really on there ti...

Re: Big Time shudder at low speed/low pedal

That’s an odd circumstance. You might pull your front driveshaft and see if that helps. The front driveshafts lose their cardan on these trucks, and when those go it gets really expensive. My truck lost the cardan and it took out the driveshaft, blew the transfer case, dented the underside of the ca...

Re: Gear Ratios / Tires - No Procal

You can run the 37’s first and determine how your driving style meshes with those tires. 4.88 would probably be a minimum (and the standard) if you’re going to regear. Or 5.13’s.

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

If you have the correct tools and do it by the book, you should be 100% fine. Just like any precision assembly. I think the difference between having a dude that’s been a machinist and knows to be patient and take his time and constantly remeasure and knows that specs are requirements that you need ...

Re: Steering issue

Sounds like possibly a bent knuckle or upper ‘C’. Could go straight down the road but if a ball joint is fighting the turn or if your instant camber is off during a turn that could cause turning issues. Just throwing ideas out, never experienced either of these.

Re: Oil help?!

Amsoil handles the extremes well. I get fast oil pressure with 5W-30 down to 20 degrees (haven’t been lower), I’m about to switch to the 0W-30. One change per year makes it cheaper than alternative oils. The 25,000 Mile / 1 year oil changes are realistic. My dealer runs the 5W-30 in his 3rd gen Hemi...

Re: Recovery gear questions!

I don’t like hi-lifts. You have to have a usable recovery point, you’ve got those covered in your list. I’m using a real shop floor jack for my jack. Pull-Pals and Deadman anchors are for lazy people and have super limited applications. Be a man and dig yourself out, which brings us to... E-Tools an...

Re: Big Time shudder at low speed/low pedal

If you want to test it you can pull the driveshaft and stuff a coke can or febreeze can in the hole and test it in front wheel drive. If it’s your u-joints you will see the problem when you disassemble them, but probably not until they’re already out and the new parts are going in anyways when you’r...

First guess is a bad battery or PCM, but I would lean towards battery. Like DocPaulo said, bad voltage makes the computer start playing Pac-Man

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

The 03-13 trucks with 4.56’s running 37” tires tend to prefer going all the way to 5.13 or 5.38. To get any lower than the stock 4.56 you have to swap rear axles to the 11.5”. The 6.4 engine has better low end torque that helps a lot. Guess that makes the score... 03-13 10 points > 14+ 2 points :rof...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

Go drive a 5.7 hemi with the 3.73 gears... it should be close you will lose some of that pulling power.. and may affect rate of ascent in offroad conditions Basically if you will actually offroad it regear to 4.56 I would refrain from telling the world what to do until you test something. That reco...

Re: Front axle u joint part numbers?

If you want greasable joints, buy greasable joints. Anti-seize is pretty standard I think. Anything branded by loctite or permatex is probably fine. If you plan to use it for other things you might get more picky, there’s copper based, high temp, etc. but for just general applications like the unit ...

Re: Front axle u joint part numbers?

You aren’t wasting much time by not doing u-joints at the same time as ball joints. I anti-seize my unit bearings when i take them out and removal is a lot easier. My joints are running on 7 Years with no issues EXCEPT the front driveshaft. The cardan joints in the front shaft let go right at 100,00...

Re: XRF or Moog ball joints?

Never heard anyone running XRF. Moog should NEVER be used for ball joints or steering on these trucks. I strongly recommend EMF for joints, very happy with mine. I don’t know if Carli or Dynatrac have their ball joints ready for the new trucks but those are two solid options as well.
