Re: EMF steering linkage?

I have the Thuren drag link. It’s pure beefcake. It is heim style so you can’t perfectly adjust it like the factory drag link, otherwise it’s great. It steers a lot easier than my EMF link did and does not clunk. I can get you one if you’d like to go that route. I definitely recommend the factory Mo...

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft failures?

Factory shaft on my 11 was 4.5”x.080”. My steel shaft is 4”x.080” (if I remember right). Our trucks don’t make enough torque to trash that size shaft. 3500 Cummins pushing 1000ftlb is a different animal

Re: Traction control on 2011?

I don’t know, the torque management on this truck is terrible. Thinking on it more I don’t have the ESC button and I don’t think the truck has it, likely just TM like you said. It isn’t a problem in the dirt

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft failures?

What’s with everyone thinking a steel shaft is going to turn into a pool noodle and make their truck explode? If you hit it in the rocks you’re probably going to slide off something. The likelihood of you dropping the entire rear weight of the truck perfectly on the shaft and blowing up the transfer...

Re: EMF steering linkage?

You went from the (potentially) best steering setup ever developed for these trucks, to what might be the worst. Following all of my testing I am a big fan of the Mopar linkage. Especially for the price, just run it and replace it when it wears out. It will not be cheaper to run a full heim steering...

Re: EMF steering linkage?

Eek. Check that the thing has enough travel on your truck! Mine made it two weeks of street driving before it snapped the pin at the pitman. Got the ‘new and improved’ pin from DOR and it snapped a few weeks later. The kit did not have nearly enough travel to work and the flop/clunk and dead spot in...

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft failures?

Yes, they do get destroyed. My local driveline shop told me that the shaft length on my 2015 was too long for steel, there would be balancing/vibration problems at high speed. Given that I intend to regear to 5.13 at some point in the future (even higher driveshaft RPMs), and drive at highway speed...

Re: Traction control on 2011?

My 2011 does not have a TSC Off button, however when I was on 34’s I noticed several times it felt like it did have TSC as it would chop throttle under certain circumstances with tires slipping on road. With how much off-road use the truck has seen though it’s never felt like it has TSC screwing wit...

Re: Well...this sucks

Maybe Don should advertise upgraded lower shock mounts with 4gen 3.0 sales. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There are ‘secret menu’ options that are not sold unless the customer understands just that. Not for the average user. This is still a special case and is not very common, and I’ve seen as...

Re: Well...this sucks

Shock mounts are weak BUT if all the geometry is correct should never break because they should never see downward force. The shock should stop before that. The bumpstop stops the downward force before force is applied to the shock mount. In the up swing the shock mount would see some light extendi...

Re: 37x13.5 on -12 offsets

I recommend against spacers, particularly if you are getting new wheels I don’t see why you wouldn’t just get the correct wheel. +6 with 37’s might get some rubbing on the fender.

Re: Steering shaft/box

There is no public ally available spec because that screw isn’t an adjuster. There is no adjustment. It is meant to be set once and forever. That there is a factory permission that the user can adjust it 1/3 turn is a joke. It doesn’t work. It gets built with that screw adjusted and that’s it. Is yo...

Steering shaft/box

1. Gearboxes are intended to have the least backlash when they are on-center 2. Gearboxes experience least backlash when they are pressurized. Engine-off testing will show different results. 3. In my opinion the adjustment of these gearboxes should not be done. I have never seen it work as a lasting...

Those airbags are a good idea, over timbrens. Thuren trackbar is a great idea. Keep the truck low if you do suspension. Lose weight where you can.

It’s ruined. Yank the doors, get tube doors made. Ditch the bed and backhalf it. Long travel coilovers and triangulated 4-link.

80/20 states the 2-degree draft designed into the parts is a locking mechanism. In our experience it did not work. Loctite everything.

Re: Truck felt squirrely on drive back

I run the same 37x12.5R17 Toyo MT on mine. 42/33 pressures. Drive 80mph a lot to Moab. I don’t know if I’d call it squirrels but it definitely needs tire correction constantly, on fresh front end parts and an alignment. Big lugs on these tires. Street handling will be sacrificed. Do the Thuren REAR ...

Re: 80/20 - The Adult Erector Set

I have worked with it a ton. I don’t know how many thousands of pieces I’ve made with it. It is expensive, especially the corner fittings and nuts. It is cool, the hole in the center is the drill size to tap a 1/4”-20 thread. You can cut it with a wood cutting chop saw with a carbide tipped metal cu...

Anything that’s local is always cool. Once you’re in Utah you’re in 3% content land minus breweries and liquor stores.
