Re: 66RFE Downshift Hesitation/Shudder

I have the same exact problem, non tuned on my 66rfe. I suspect that it’s one of three issues. 1. A cross leak caused by the valve body or transfer plate being warped, causing cross-leakage. 2. The solenoid pack is going out, but hasn’t caused any codes yet. 3. Some electronic gremlin we don’t know ...

And just to clear up a little misconception about myself... I'm not retired from the BLM, my truck is. I still have a day job.

Abel Components Appreciation Post

Wanted to post an appreciation post for Abel Components (David) on here as Retired BLM Rig. He has done a lot of work for the wagon community and has taken a lot of his personal time from his retirement to help perfect these trucks to the best of his ability. R&D can be extremely difficult and the f...

Re: Sonnax Line Pressure Booster for 545rfe and 66rfe

I wonder if the 66 and 68 rfe valvebodys are the same. Can’t really fine custom 66 valve body’s but 68 and 545 ones are all over the place

Re: Sonnax Line Pressure Booster for 545rfe and 66rfe

Ya it seems like the softer metal of the valve body can cause some issues later on in the trans life. From what I could find, the only issues I may run into are the accumulator piston, some of the check balls wearing out, and maybe the pressure regulator valve wearing. It seems like these happen on ...

Sonnax Line Pressure Booster for 545rfe and 66rfe

Hey guys, so I was looking around for 66rfe upgrades and was coming up mostly empty until I ran across the Sonnax RFE-LB1 line pressure booster. It’s basically a fooler that tells the computer to give more line pressure. Apparently a shift kit does not really work on the RFE trans and I haven’t gott...

2016 Power Wagon Laramie $39k

Putting feelers out to see if anyone would be interested in buying my 2016 Laramie PW with 54,000 miles. Its flame red with every option except the running lights and ram box. I've installed the full Thuren overland extreme kit, EMF ball joints, and the Thuren front truss. She also has a locker bypa...

Power Wagon Down

Well, Dorothy 3 is down for the count. On the 14th I was on my way to work when a driver in a corolla went through a red light while I was going through the intersection. Tried to evade but was too little too late. T-Boned the corolla, hopping over the front end, spinning (almost flipped) and coming...

What PSI for Thuren/King Steering Damper?

Anyone who has the Thuren/King damper, what PSI do you have it set at? Did you keep it at the factory 100 psi? Anyone lower or higher?

Re: Headers

I went with the JBA shorty ceramic headers due to having to smog the truck in CA. With a tune you can tell a difference. Im sure long tubes would be even better but I find my headers were worth the money with a tune. Did you have to modify the headers to fit? Any hammer work? Had to tap a tiny dent...

Re: Anyone ever storm chase in their wagon?

So I finally managed to get out to the midwest and chase. So far it has not disappointed. The trucks been running strong and guzzling gas :chug: Had to go down a dirt road at about 90 to get out from 2-4in hail and get away from the core of the storm. IMG_3566.jpg IMG_3612.jpg IMG_3615.JPG I...

The bumper is disgusting, but I kind of like the cowl not gonna lie. I would never put it on my truck truck, but it does remind me of a terradyne gurkha or International MXT-MVA.

Re: Chip your car.

Definitely don't think you will get 60hp out of just a tune but you never know I guess. I have a custom tune for my truck and while it shaved almost 2 seconds off my 0-60, it definitely didnt add 60hp. Maybe along the lines of 25 or so. But be careful when modifying the computers on these trucks. Th...
