Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

I can four wheel skid/lock pretty easily now with the best pads and rotors vatozone sells.

It often surprises the hell out of me. I went from hating the brakes on this truck to feeling they’re more than sufficient.

I am still on toyo MT 35’s so...

Well...this sucks

Maybe Don should advertise upgraded lower shock mounts with 4gen 3.0 sales.

Well...this sucks

That’s why I was wondering what stage he’s running. My stage 5’s have massive damping. It’s incredibly hard to fully compress them (high speed) short of catching air. The mounts are taking a lot of force. When I get around to having my axle tubes welded I’ll have them do the shock mounts. Sent from ...

Yep, catching air without limit straps probably wouldn’t be a great idea.

Well...this sucks

Absolutely. I’m wondering if the boogies are allowing too much compression. Don’t the kings have some some kind of internal bumpstop? It will be interesting to hear what Don says.

This area is not welded. Have them weld that part. Not sure why the engineers thought that was smart. This should never occur within the limitations of stock shocks and bumpstops but still... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190512/b85bdae293a78d555002788ca16cec84.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tap...

Re: Well...this sucks

From the looks at the little dirt/oil marks it appears that you’ve fully compressed them a few times. Are you running boogie bump stops?

Well...this sucks

Yeah the 4th gen shock mounts are a notably weak spot. I’m stage 5 front and have beat on mine pretty good for about 70k miles now. I probably need to take a close(er) look at them than I do with my regular underbody and suspension checks.

Well...this sucks

It can be welded back on. It’s usually an incorrect shock length or the use of shock extenders as the cause.

What stage are your King’s?

Yes it’s happened to others. What shocks are you running (type/length)?

I think the key word is ‘new’. Tread squirm is pretty noticeable for the first 5k miles or so.

That shouldn’t be a big deal since you’ve spent half your life with calves hanging off a bed made for regular people :).

Agreed. The stock rotors and pads are made for longevity. Anything aftermarket is better stopping.

I Give Up! RustyPW was RIGHT

All of my parking sensors are disconnected (front and rear). I get a chime at startup and don’t even notice it now. The buttons are set to disable. 2016 truck.

There were some reports around here a few months ago of DIESEL mistakenly put in the gas tanks.

I’d be really pissed off.

I'm also in the market for a rear bumper now. Warn makes one that looks fairly nice. The 'ascent'.

Procharging my PW

I have 94k miles on the truck. Supposedly a reverse servo or part failed. A local performance shop is rebuilding it with upgraded components and a billet valve body. Upgraded clutch packs, converter and sonnax internals. I may not need a trans tune. A sonnax line pressure booster in the build. I sti...

Check your drag link nuts. Make sure they’re very tight. Mine felt tight with hands but once I torqued them down the clicking/popping noise disappeared.

The statements above are all possibilities as well.

Great write up there Mikey. Just FYI you can save time by purchasing a lightbar harness and skip all the time consuming wire loom part. Tim made me that awesome disconnect with aircraft grade wiring. Damn that looks good. Some 13.5’’ width tires are in order. Funny how one mod snowballs into the next.
