Re: Intial Impressions from a Noob

Picked up 130 Miles on the clock yesterday getting our trees. Snow was simply pathetic, so no chance to be the Prius recovery hero :( Oh yes, there was one at our trail cut off with a tree about 3.5' tall. They called it a "Prius Tree". PW looks so sexy even they could not complain about my Ca...

Intial Impressions from a Noob

Will post some more after we get back from getting a tree in the mountains today. Sadly not enough snow around here to make it a stuck fest as usual. :( If you are not winching when you go get a tree, you are not in the Christmas spirit! :D Anyhow, here are my first impressions; I was a timid driver...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Those are supposed to be Anasazi granaries or defense towers. There is an Anasazi T door in between. The idea is a new home built on a ruin.

Re: Any Ordering Advice

No, still got the LED bed lighting. Surprised though I played around with the switch in the bed and it stayed on the entire drive home. Maybe thats due to the bed camera option?

So more then just a temporary shortage if the build and price no longer has them.....When I built a 2018 it had them.

Re: Any Ordering Advice

Ok picked it up. Ordeal was Far from over though. The Ram Boxes were deleted by Chrysler automatically. The sales manager who ordered it no longer works there, but should have called me to let me known they ran out of Ram Boxes so we could have made some decisions on waiting or what have you. Ended ...

Re: MOAB 2018 - Apr 30 - May 6

There are things they could do and support with out taking it to that level. Maybe some raffle prizes or a ride along with an engineer or marketing dude. Had some fun with that with Mitsubishi and Nissan both. Despite the delicate nature of Xterras those engineers were crazy drivers...

Re: Any Ordering Advice

Whooo Hooo no longer on the choo choo! Dealer is now fighting for a car carrier like all the other dealers when the steam engine rolls into town. Just in time too, its snowing. Could be today still, if not hopefully tomorrow. ( Transport people promise about as much as Chrysler)

That seems pretty reasonable. Thats the trick with auctions, sometimes things go low, sometimes high. Just have to know your limit.

Re: Poser Shots in Moab

Then there is always the Maze. Not any challenge, but some pretty country and very remote. The trick is not to get suckered into thinking Moab is all there is. Never looked at Trail Damage really, but I see off hand they have Golden Spike on there. Hole-N-The-Rock is only a little harder then that. ...

Re: Poser Shots in Moab

Here is a sweet map http://hirf.org/Trail%20Maps/HIR%20Lake%20Canyon,%20Map%203.pdf The 250-mile long trail runs from Parowan in southwestern Utah to Bluff and Montezuma Fort in southeastern Utah. The road was blazed during the winter of 1879-80 by 70 families who were answering a call from The Chur...

Re: Poser Shots in Moab

Hole-N-The-Rock is one of the most classic Utah trails. But not being right in the Moab Zoo, so it see's less use. Surprised its not on Trail damage, but I usually am not looking for new trails. I just kind of drive to them after all these years. The "classic" section starts off HWY 276 that leads t...

Re: Another Government Wagon Auction

I agree with Mike, come on at these prices beat to hell off road full of holes from added equipment. Not convinced these are good deals and I have never even looked at book values. 2013 is still 5 years and a generation old. Edmunds Says 32-34K on that one. But I would want to be well below that for...

Re: Poser Shots in Moab

Brought up two Hole-N-The-Rock Power Wagon Memories. One 1950s PW used for mining abandoned at a major junction that always seems to get people lost. And a group I met coming in one time dropped a 1950's built PW at Lake Canyon in case they needed it for a recovery.(too rough to use as a regular tra...

Re: Poser Shots in Moab

LOL thats funny. You are "technically" correct. I have navigated the Hole-N-The-Rock trail from Escalante to the official Hole-N-The-Rock, interesting, but Subaru country. Again from Comb Ridge to Lake Canyon. (Cedar Mesa area is not happening in a new truck as the over grown trail is a paint thinne...

Re: Poser Shots in Moab

Only thing on a trail like Hole N The Rock (other then skinny parts like Wilson Mesa and The Rincon) is that shiny new rear bumper dragging over all those ledges. Maybe I will be "One of those guys" with a 6" drop receiver hitch to protect my new bumper

Yep, thinking that might be the way to go. Did that with my new 05 Xterra, went to a Nissan Event with it brand new. Even lead Steel Bender. Really want to hit Hole-N-The-Rock next year though, killing me not making it.

Re: Poser Shots in Moab

Funny after the fantastic news about Bears Ears being downsized and threatening less core Utah trails yesterday, I started thinking about some the great losses. Mercifully Utah citizens fight back and they have been less then most places. But it made be think of Escalante area lost trails, Gemini Br...

So the transcontinental railroad has officially been completed. My truck is in Belen NM a 30 miles south of town, in transit. But are you ready for the punch line? Estimated delivery date 12/12-12/18. Come on, thats not possibly, 2 weeks from 30 miles away? Some calls are going to be made, will chec...

Re: Winch works 5 seconds or less

Others will chime in, but the Ram Winch has a very sensitive thermal cut off switch that normal Warns don't. Sounds like its gone bad. Many bi-pass it.
