Re: Question about spark plugs
Ugh seriously I'm like an overbearing woman just smothering my truck.lol. I'm not even going to consider trading it in until I hit 300K, or they start selling regular cabs with the G56.Bill2014 wrote:You'll have those threads worn out in no time be time to trade it in

Re: Question about spark plugs
Wow! Yeah I'm definitely glad I didn't have to deal with that. I mean props to Ram, I put 10-15 miles on the truck with the wrong damn plugs and she let me off easy. 2 of the plugs were already loosening I think. They definitely didn't feel as tight as I put them in. But no marks on the threads and ...

Re: Question about spark plugs
At this stage of the game, you'd be better off installing the correct new OEM plugs instead. Nobody in town had them in stock. I would have some ordered, but I'll need my truck this week, so... Looks like because I wanted to be impatient I get to change the plugs 3 times. If you're gonna be dumb, y...

Re: Question about spark plugs
Whatever you do, don't run those Champion plugs that you got. They have the wrong seating surface (tapered seat vs. flat metal gasket). The plugs will eventually come loose and blow out or while they're running loose will ruin the threads in the aluminum head.(steel rattling against aluminu...

Re: Question about spark plugs
If the length of the threaded section is the same then clearance isn't an issue. Sounds like the original owner thought he could gain performance with the iridiums. Sadly if there is a percentage of improvement it isn't measurable The threads are indeed the same length. The difference comes from th...

Re: Question about spark plugs
You're changing plugs in a 2015 already? Surely there is more to this story. Not really. I'm not the original owner and I try to change plugs, oil, etc when I first get a new-used vehicle. I know the manual says they're good for 100K miles, but I figured 36K was a good time to start the clock...

Question about spark plugs
Hey all. I decided to change out my spark plugs. They aren't due, I was just bored, and wanted to see if it was any easier on the 6.4L. A quick google told me to buy the same plugs I did for my 5.7, champion 570 copper plugs. My 5.7 had NGKs when I changed it so I expected the same. Instead what I f...

Chevy ZR2 with Duramax and Front/Rear Lockers
Not sure if anyone has been following this thing, but it's shaping up to be a pretty decent little truck. http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/the-chevy-colorado-zr2-is-your-mid-sized-diesel-ford-ra-1789023826 "Beyond the obvious awesomeness of that hood scoop, seriously aggressive front bumper and desert-...

Re: 2016 PW wheels?
If anyone else is on the fence about buying a wheel off of Redman, be wary. Asshole shipped me a 35 pound box of packing peanuts that exploded in my living room like a damn glitter bomb! Just kidding, thanks so much Redman. I have purchased TVs and monitors that were not shipped nearly as quickly or...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
Big girl turned 36,000 miles out on the trail the other day. I celebrated by playing on some rocks and promptly ripping the bumper shroud out on the driver side. Man I love this truck. I'm saving up now so that I can get 35s, sliders, and Line-X the bumpers/rocker panels. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn...

Re: Well WTF do I do now?
That really sucks, I'm sorry. My $.02, my 2015 kept giving me a transmission overheat warning at random temps. They replaced sensors, oil, guage cluster, could hardly replicate the problem because it was so intermittent. Dealer wound up asking FCA to send someone down to check it out. That guy had t...

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161006/d386efcaffe75fa2130ffd445b3aa511.jpg 1 week and $320 later, and I've got a shiny new steel driveshaft. It's definitely beefier than the aluminum one. It was a nice workout maneuvering it into place. The shop used the OEM flanges. Tomorrow I'll take it out an...

Re: Can someone please school me on driveshafts and SYEs?
Dumb question but why did you jack up the truck to pull shaft? Also did you have your rear ujoint replaced in the last bit? I haven't seen factory joints with the inside clips installed. Usually just the plastic retainer. You can measure from Center to Center of u joints. A local driveshaft shop wo...

Re: Can someone please school me on driveshafts and SYEs?
Yesterday I called Tom Wood's and spoke to a guy named Josh who was almost no help at all. I explained to him that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing and asked if he could look up any specs on what they've done for other newer 2500s and he said no. He said there are too many options and that i...

Re: Can someone please school me on driveshafts and SYEs?
I agree, I am constantly impressed by these trucks. Like I said, I think the best insurance against any future damage is picking better lines when I'm wheeling. I'm already a cautious driver. This damage only happened because a rock shifted on me going up an obstacle. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com...

Re: Can someone please school me on driveshafts and SYEs?
Nope sorry, the newer transfer case can't separate the tail shaft. Not sure on the ability to swap transfer cases....depends on your budget. I will say tom woods makes a steel vice aluminum ds which is stronger and requires a smaller diameter. The company is incredible to work with...tom woods hims...

Re: (Update 11/14/13: lifted!!!) 2012 Power Wagon ST questio
Ok...yea so a two part ds might actually be cheaper. I know some newer F-350's run a two piece (have crawled around under some at work) might be worth looking at those and modifying them. Also, couldn't hurt to just give tom wood's a call...I couldn't believe a custom ds cost the same as a stock on...

Re: Can someone please school me on driveshafts and SYEs?
SYE will let you drive with the front wheels without losing fluid out of the rear of the transfer case or if you break the rear ds on a hill losing a bunch of fluid and essentially stranding you Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk This is exactly why I'm interested in a SYE. I usually wheel alone,...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
Looking good nfb! Nice pics and good to see you putting her through the paces. Aluminum driveshafts have low weight and inertia giving better engine responsiveness and fuel economy relative to steel. When I had to do a rear shaft I went with a driveshaft specialist 5" aluminum shaft which is much s...
