Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

In my mind, it's just weird. They always work. But my Chevy with 2" smaller brakes had better feel. Until they smoked. So the quality is good, just throws me off. Snow/Ice is good. Just dry.

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

It's not travel. You just have to push harder at random times. It's more force related. I always felt silly for putting two feet on the brake pedal on the second gen as it was likely traction related. On the 4.5 gen, its needed. Two feet, literally standing on it, will stop better. No air. Travel no...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

My 2016 is definitely odd compared to my hydro boost 2500 Chevy. It definitely feels weird. My second gen Dodge even with vacuum boost and my odd combination of brakes (1500 booster/master; 2500 fronts, E350 discs/K20 front calipers in the rear) feels a lot more linear. Big brakes, and I have never ...

Re: What Exhaust?

Kind of sounds like going to the guy that did my 2nd gen and getting him to do it is the way to go? He did a great job for a good price. I don't really need louder, I just am annoyed when I drive 5.7 Chargers and Challengers as rental cars they sound better than my 6.4

Re: Wheels?

I did my third gen wheels with a 4 1/2" grinder to fit my second gen. I then ran them with the original 2nd gen tires on my Chevy (definitely no where near the hubs.) Really wasn't noticeable. Rode better than the Walmart authoritys I had on the front and Pro Comp ATs I had on the rear prior. Rode s...

Re: Wheels?

On my 2nd gen w/ 37" at 5500 lbs on stock 1500 wheels I popped beads occasionally. When I went to 2500 wheels, and 7000 lb I popped beads all the time below 20 psi. The tires had way more traction at 17 psi front/14 psi rear but fell off the wheels too much. The raised bead on the original PW is an ...

Wheels?

Tired of shiny wheels... Stock size/spacing is fine. Assume they have improved bead retention? Anyway, looking for a strong wheel that's 8-8.5" wide. 17" Good on/offroad. Black or similar. I have never done aftermarket aluminum wheels so new to me. 35"s on Stock '16 PW. Open to ideas. Need the 3500 ...

What Exhaust?

I know in MDS some resonate. I never run in MDS. What Catback should I do? Any performance gains? I remember on my Vortec 8100, dyno proven was twin magnaflows for about 20 rwhp. I assume this exhaust is more efficient, but like my second gen, less junk under the truck is better. (I did a 3" magnafl...

Re: Converting overall costs for capability

The PW value is from the factory. Recreating is expensive. The only thing I would take source from Mopar is the wide frame winch mount (if you have a gasser). Otherwise aftermarket will be cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, and would not buy a different truck, but I would only buy 3/4 ton gas...

Re: Clever Rear Light Mounts??

Mounted them on the trailer hitch tube. Came out pretty clean. I couldn't figure out how to cleanly do the off shape in the bumper. If I damage them, I can always replace them with LEDs that fit in the bumper. The hard part was the wiring and that's all done now. Remote control is cool. I triggered ...

Clever Rear Light Mounts??

I have a brand new set of remote control Warn fog/flood oval shape lights from like 2010. The nice thing is no need to run wires into the cab, and much like my wireless airbag compressor, you can activate while you are working on trailers, ramps etc. My initial thought was mount the lights (about 2....

Re: 10 Things to Love and 10 Things to Hate

MPG is what I love? 15 mpg average the last 8000 miles. Compared to my much more aerodynamic and lighter, and 100 HP less Chevy, that's impressive. It got 12-13. On 285s, not the 315s I have now. Only thing I hate is the transmission shifter. Both that you can't lock it into a gear, and that you can...

Re: '14 Power Wagon needs new motor at 63k... :/

So, I never let the MDS engage on my truck. Do we think that's helpful or is it just my ADHD? (I like to see what gear I am so I run in the manual mode, which disengages MDS)

Rear Suspension

Currently Have Airlift Ultimate bags, Daystar cradles. Planning on decent shocks (Thuren King 2.5"s). Would you do their rear coils and/or trackbar? Are the springs taller at all, if not, should I add a spacer? I occasionally do tow and haul fairly heavy (SXS on deck, plus tongue weight of trailer l...

Re: 2.5s versus 3" Kings

Looks like about $700 difference (I believe Thuren discounts the PW Kin 2.5" kit, so some of that is in no discount on all components..)

On $4k that's less than 20%... Hmmm...

2.5s versus 3" Kings

Considering doing the PW 2.5" Kings system from Thuren. (1.5" lift). Was going to do Stainless shafts and front boogie bumps (have rear Airlift 5000s Ultimate (internal bumpstarts) and daystars. Obviously, quite a bit more to go to 3" but is there a value for it? The sad reality I spend 90% of my ti...

Re: 2014+ Water Free Intake Ideas

Nick, I had an open K&N on my Ranger and hit deeper mud holes than that. Over the bumpers... had water flowing through knee deep in my second Gen on Fordyce (lots of high flow creeks). 30" is only tire height at best, I think you will be fine. Just don't hit it too fast, but throttle down once you a...
