Re: Trans to hot message

Can you take pics of the light being on and show them? I had a 4WD shift in progress message then kept popping up randomly on my EVIC while I was driving in 2WD. kept taking it back and got the same "couldn't duplicate" stuff as you. Took a bunch of pics, sometimes at 70 mph :P Went to service manag...

I think it's 8-80,000 federally if it fails a test. That's probably going to be your sticking point.

Re: 2015 6.4 Hemi EGR Issues?

I have little doubt that the EGR is my problem. Trying to explain these things to folks who believe damaged camshafts "sound normal" is not an easy task. The fact that it isn't under warranty is even more frustrating. I will likely end up replacing this myself depending on what all needs to be remo...

Re: 2015 6.4 Hemi EGR Issues?

My 16 had a low RPM surge just off idle going uphill. Held too high of a gear. I complained about it and they did nothing until the campaign came out on the EGR valve.

Guess what went away when they put in a new one?

Using the winch in the winter.

Sucks. Hook was frozen to the tow hook, cap for the winch cable had about 2" of ice cementing it on, same for the spool lever.

Once past all that it was fine.

havent been bothered with updates but got recall notice for the transmission might let the vehicle roll away. maybe ram and ford can put all their brilliance together and make a shift lever that stays in park I got that notice for my 16, but it said they didn't have a fix yet and would notify me wh...

No, I don't have uconnect on either truck. :P
Lucky you. It’s a terrible idea to connect everything in a vehicle to on location.
My trucks live in the NRQZ where none of that magic stuff works.

Re: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum rebate (for guys with the 6.4l)

I run the PUP in the 16 because I can buy it at the dealer cheaper with my discount. Comes to $8.20 a qt. I don't get any lifter noise or tics. But one thing I notice is when that oil gets some miles on it the truck starts to stink of old oil, like from back when cars had open breathers. Goes away w...

Re: The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

Just curious, do the new PWs still have the manual transfer case? If yes, what does "4WD Shift In Progress" mean? It still has a manual T-case. That message is for the stupid CAD unit they decided to put back in them. It means the shift motor is moving the collar to lock the two axle halves. Worthl...

Re: The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

My 14 has done the same since new. Dealer cannot “re-create”. I just live with it. Well, the tech could get mine to do it yesterday when he wiggled the shift motor wiring harness. So, they ordered a new harness and new motor. The harness takes 3-5 days to get so I'm driving it until it gets here. M...

One piece inner axle shaft solves all your problems
I checked on the CAD eliminator shaft for my 16 right after I bought it. Nobody was making the one piece passenger axle at that time. I haven't looked recently though.

Well there has to be some sensor mechanism telling the computer the CAD is engaging. My guess is something is wrong with that.
My feeling is that it's a bad positioning signal/voltage from the shift motor as in it's not up against it's retracted stop 100%.

Re: The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

Maybe some movement on the front axle disconnect? Tricking the sensor into thinking its operating maybe? Possibly, but I drive some pretty rough roads and this only seems to happen after the truck is 4-5 hrs. heat soaked @ freeway speeds. I'm thinking bad position feedback from the cad motor. They ...

The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

With the 16.

Driving down the road in 2wd and this randomly pops up and drives the EVIC crazy. They have not been able to cure it. Going back tomorrow for the 4th time. Notice no 4wd lock light. It's uncommanded.

Decals or the metal ones like on the 3G trucks? The chrome plated ones with adhesive backing can be removed by working dental floss back and forth under them.

Re: next gen wagon

At some point I'd like to know so I can decide if I want to sell the 16 and buy the last model of this gen or wait and buy the next. If I wait, I'll have to wait an extra year as there is NO way I'm buying a year one truck. Did that with the 05 and that's how I ended up with an 07.

50K miles? Where are you from? They go at least 80k around here, unless you're driving through water/mud regularly. I've had sets in the hauler go 200k miles without showing any real wear when I've taken them out and inspected the caps (mostly highway, hauling horse trailers). If I pull the wheel b...
