Re: Bent Drag Link/ABS System Error

Yikes! And the steering gear is pretty beefy compared to the 3G trucks.

Re: The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

Just curious, do the new PWs still have the manual transfer case? If yes, what does "4WD Shift In Progress" mean? It still has a manual T-case. That message is for the stupid CAD unit they decided to put back in them. It means the shift motor is moving the collar to lock the two axle halves. Worthl...

Re: The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

My 14 has done the same since new. Dealer cannot “re-create”. I just live with it. Well, the tech could get mine to do it yesterday when he wiggled the shift motor wiring harness. So, they ordered a new harness and new motor. The harness takes 3-5 days to get so I'm driving it until it gets here. M...

One piece inner axle shaft solves all your problems
I checked on the CAD eliminator shaft for my 16 right after I bought it. Nobody was making the one piece passenger axle at that time. I haven't looked recently though.

Well there has to be some sensor mechanism telling the computer the CAD is engaging. My guess is something is wrong with that.
My feeling is that it's a bad positioning signal/voltage from the shift motor as in it's not up against it's retracted stop 100%.

Does it only happen when cruise control is being used?
No. It's just random.

Re: The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

Maybe some movement on the front axle disconnect? Tricking the sensor into thinking its operating maybe? Possibly, but I drive some pretty rough roads and this only seems to happen after the truck is 4-5 hrs. heat soaked @ freeway speeds. I'm thinking bad position feedback from the cad motor. They ...

The random 4wd shift in progress continues.

With the 16.

Driving down the road in 2wd and this randomly pops up and drives the EVIC crazy. They have not been able to cure it. Going back tomorrow for the 4th time. Notice no 4wd lock light. It's uncommanded.

Decals or the metal ones like on the 3G trucks? The chrome plated ones with adhesive backing can be removed by working dental floss back and forth under them.

Re: next gen wagon

At some point I'd like to know so I can decide if I want to sell the 16 and buy the last model of this gen or wait and buy the next. If I wait, I'll have to wait an extra year as there is NO way I'm buying a year one truck. Did that with the 05 and that's how I ended up with an 07.

50K miles? Where are you from? They go at least 80k around here, unless you're driving through water/mud regularly. I've had sets in the hauler go 200k miles without showing any real wear when I've taken them out and inspected the caps (mostly highway, hauling horse trailers). If I pull the wheel b...

Re: Front End Pop

Wow... That's crazy. I'm going to look the whole thing over better this weekend, see if I can find any movement at all, if not, the track bar will be getting replaced this spring as a start. I really doubt its axle joints. I was a test engineer at Dana for a few years... Those joints shouldn't pres...

Re: 15' PW 1500 RPM Stumble

Call your local dealer and check for open EGR recall if you are still having problems. I can't find the TSB, but the number below should help them. "Performed RRT 16-096 -Inspected the EGR valve serial numer, and replaced the EGR valve, road tested ok" When they changed the EGR valve on my 16 is wa...

The mirrors on my 16 haven't folded since the weather got cold. I have to be very careful getting it in and out of the garage.

Check the steering damper to see if the rod is bent. Happened to a 1500 my wife was driving and got hit (back when they were still SFA). Came back from the body shop that way.

Re: Big Time shudder at low speed/low pedal

My issue is that I can identify exactly when it began. I was making a tight right hand turn onto a divided highway and only moderately accelerating when the shudder began. I thought I had a flat at first..the fact that the 4wd shifter handle goes nuts when it's happening makes me think it's a trann...

The truck probably doesn't have the wide band fuel/air sensors and fuel map in the PCM to run 85% ethanol. So, it's probably a real bad idea.

Had them update whatever body module controls the headlights while it was there since they flickered on those long night drives. Thought I was havi...

I'm looking for a better front shock for my 16 also, but something that won't break the bank. The OEM ones don't seem to be able to handle gravel washboard roads.
