Re: Wheel Bearing/Hub Recommendation

I used to run drive flanges instead of lockout hubs. It gave superior strength and ease of maintenance like the regular free spin kit but the ease of shift on the fly like stock. If you ever do break a shaft it’s just a few recessed Allen head bolts on the hub to pull the drive flange and go free sp...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

He's not the only one. I think Lee blew up a set of Nitro 9.25. I believe Lee was towing someone out of mud, in reverse. Operator error. Chris S in Moab knew what he was doing on the original install and the culprit came down to the ring gear hardware supplied by Nitro being too short. The bolts al...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

I think he meant gear pattern? Also, reverse in 4lo loaded up isn’t necessarily a problem, shock loading is what will cause catastrophic failure. Easy enough in 4hi as well, but not tremendously more so than stock gears. It’s a bad idea on a high pinion front period. When Lee broke his front end he ...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

Do it reloaderguy. You don’t need a tremendous amount of equipment to do an A+ job. A harbor freight hydraulic press would be a luxury item but you can definitely work around. On YouTube Carl Jantz has some gear pattern information that makes it extremely easy to get a good pattern quickly. The AAM ...

Re: Thuren Track Bar

Is it really that hard to buy a $15 crow's foot on Amazon to go on the end of your torque wrench? Not if you have a torque wrench that reads 200+ ftlbs already and a bench vice to hold the bar in place. Most guys probably don’t though. And if you’re using a crows foot on a torque wrench use it at 9...

Re: Thuren Track Bar

For the average guy, there’s no practical way to actually torque that to spec. But, it’s damn near impossible to over torque it, so go to town with a 2 foot crescent wrench or whatever behemoth you’ve got on hand, and give it your all lol. And yes, do as Marcus says and check it in a few days/few hu...

Re: Trans to hot message

^^^^^what Marcus said. The rfe transmissions shift and work normally up to about 240* Fahrenheit. Past that and there can be serious consequences, but 170* is totally fine.

Re: 2.5s versus 3" Kings

2.5’s are a great option. A 2.5 can ride just as plush as a 3.0, and a 2.5 can have just as much bottoming resistance as a 3.0, it just can’t do both at the same time as well as the bigger shock. A 3.0 can ride plush but still have more bottoming resistance than a smaller shock that is tuned to ride...

Re: 2.5s versus 3" Kings

There’s no replacement for displacement sir. A larger diameter shock performs better on and offroad. The larger the piston surface area the more “leverage” the shock can exert on the valving. That equates to a plusher ride on the 3.0 vs a 2.5 with identical valving. Whether or not the juice is worth...

Re: Master cylinder going bad?

I had to replace my master cylinder recently for dragging calipers, it’s pretty straight forward. If I remember correctly oem part was around 200 ish maybe? Make sure you bleed the system thoroughly though. And you’ll need to bench bleed the new master cylinder first.

Re: Thuren Track Bar

If you’re doing it alone and don’t have an extra set of hands to hold the heim, it’s pretty easy to orient the body of the heim a few degrees from vertical when the jam nut is snug, and it will right itself once you crank down on it. It’s best to get a feel for it once or twice before the red thread...

Re: Rear Shock Question

Hahaha ain’t it always the way, I bought a power wagon because it didn’t “need” anything lol. In offroad racing springs are considered to be there more or less only to establish ride height. Chassis control and suspension character are all shock valving. Carli doesn’t use that tuning philosophy as f...

Re: Do all 09's have VVT

Where’d you find the 09 with different power numbers than 10 and on? As far as I know the 09 and on 1500 and 2500 share the same 383 horsepower motor. Even the drive belt system is the same between them, in my work experience they’re identical
