Re: Shock suggestion for towing/daily driver

The only Power Wagon shocks I see on Thurens site are King 2.0 IFP's how is it you guys a getting King 2.5's and 3.0's are they something custom Thuren put together? There’s a whole wide world of options off menu if you call or email. Probably most guys are just ordering non pw specific shocks and ...

Trying out some of the new Thuren parts. This spot used to get at least 1 tire off the ground... Not any more! :cash: Hot damn! That’s one sexy truck you’ve built. One of the few new trucks that make me think twice about buying a newer truck than my 3rd gen. Did you do the rear diff cover with a st...

Re: GPS

I’ve been a fan of the lowrance units for many years, having a dedicated unit hardwired into the vehicle and having an external antenna mounted just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy in the backcountry. Baja series is bulletproof. App based navigation can be great, I’ve dabbled with Gaia and it seems...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

Mine is a third gen. It’s the 5.28” backspace model. Not sure what would be optimal for a radius arm truck just off the top of my head though. Really great wheels.

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

Tire size to gear ratio calculators are very useful tools, BUT, they fail to take weight into consideration. My tire/wheel combo comes in at about 140-150 pounds with 37x13.50r17 toyo mt’s and Hutchinson’s. I have 5.13’s a high stall converter and a built transmission, I still sometimes wish I’d gon...

If you’re going 40’s you’d be far better served by 5.38’s

Re: Overkill? (Snatch Block)

I won’t be carrying one in my wagon, but I think I might buy a couple for the m35a2, so thanks for posting this. Interesting that this and the arb 9000 are both rated 10 ton wll. Pretty sure I know which is stronger lol. Well, one of them is rated for lifting. That’s the thing, legit towing/rigging...

Re: Overkill? (Snatch Block)

Do it, that’s a great price for American made recovery gear. 20k pounds is easy to reach with a double line pull, that’s not overkill

Re: Wheel Bearing/Hub Recommendation

I used to run drive flanges instead of lockout hubs. It gave superior strength and ease of maintenance like the regular free spin kit but the ease of shift on the fly like stock. If you ever do break a shaft it’s just a few recessed Allen head bolts on the hub to pull the drive flange and go free sp...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

He's not the only one. I think Lee blew up a set of Nitro 9.25. I believe Lee was towing someone out of mud, in reverse. Operator error. Chris S in Moab knew what he was doing on the original install and the culprit came down to the ring gear hardware supplied by Nitro being too short. The bolts al...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

I think he meant gear pattern? Also, reverse in 4lo loaded up isn’t necessarily a problem, shock loading is what will cause catastrophic failure. Easy enough in 4hi as well, but not tremendously more so than stock gears. It’s a bad idea on a high pinion front period. When Lee broke his front end he ...

Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have

Do it reloaderguy. You don’t need a tremendous amount of equipment to do an A+ job. A harbor freight hydraulic press would be a luxury item but you can definitely work around. On YouTube Carl Jantz has some gear pattern information that makes it extremely easy to get a good pattern quickly. The AAM ...
