Re: AEV Dorkel Pre-Filter, who has one? Functioning?

Well, from personal experience, it ain't going to do anything at normal operating RPM while in dusty conditions, and I drive in that situation every day. But hey if it makes you feel better to have it on, knock your socks off. Post back up when you have it installed and running your engine at 1500-...

AEV snorkel with air-ram or prefilter height

For you guys that have one... how much higher is the top of the air-ram/prefilter than the top of the cab (excluding the running lights). Please specify which one you have. Thanks,

Re: antenna mounts for rambox?

More posting! So I bought a 2m / 70cm radio and looking at the antenna mounts, rambox is coming up short! So how are you guys mounting your antennas with rambox? I was thinking of drilling the back bumper but I dont want it hitting and scratching up the paint/tailights. Then I though about mounting...

Re: AEV Dorkel Pre-Filter, who has one? Functioning?

You might check out the Donaldson Top Spin instead of the Sy-Klone.

It appears to cover a greater CFM range for the 5" model.

Re: AEV Dorkel Pre-Filter, who has one? Functioning?

Based on the physics involved, I'd still go with the 9005 based on it's listed, and I assume tested, stats. The Sy-Clone website specifically says "Always select model based on engine airflow requirement, then use adaptation for any difference in diameter." The 9001R would result in an effective RPM...

Re: Unsolicited Advice on Tires

The most bad ass off road tires I ever had were Denman Ground Hawgs in 17/40-15 size back in the 80s. They were awesome off road in the mud. They rode surprisingly good on the highway. I was even surprised at how well they did in sand. You could, however, hear them coming from 2 miles down the road,...

Re: AEV Dorkel Pre-Filter, who has one? Functioning?

9005 is too big for both the Cummins and of course the 6.4 It looks like it is the correct one if you use a CFM calculator. https://www.widman.biz/English/Calculators/CFM.html Using 5600 rpm as max rpm (The 2016 PW is rated at 410hp at 5600), and 0.8 efficiency (which is typical for a naturally asp...

Re: AEV Dorkel Pre-Filter, who has one? Functioning?

It is a Sy-Klone model 9005. According to the tech I spoke with at Sy-Klone, that is the size they recommend for a D6 dozer. AEV support was shit, supposedly their engineering dept. says that is the correct size for both the 6.4 and Cummins. BULLSHIT. I'm pissed, and wanted to confirm with others t...

Have you tried the rear locker in 2wd? I heard it has that feature now

The rear locker does indeed lock in 2Hi and 4Hi. Just tested mine.
A step in the right direction.

Hey Jack, how about some pics of your setups?! Seems like I came across a few on aev forum long ago, but nothing else. Nice looking rig for sure! And thanks for your reviews! Here are a few pics I promised. My truck is pretty basic. It's a Tradesman with the PW option. I'm an older guy and still ha...

Re: Cooper or Maxxis?

I’ll agree with pretty much all of jacks observations on 13.5’s but I intentionally run 13.5’s on a less than 10 inch wide wheel because I want the squish. TankerZak you have plenty of shock! No issue there at all. Not sure what valving you have, or how you drive and use your truck, but if you like...

Re: Cooper or Maxxis?

I'm still on stock shocks through all 3 sets of tires. I like trying things "outside the box" occasionally to see what I can do with them. I went to the STTs within the 1st month they were released with the new tread pattern. It took me a few tries with various configurations, but I eventually found...

Re: Cooper or Maxxis?

But your saying the 37x13.50R17E had a softer sidewall than the 37x12.50R17D? That literally blows my mind... Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk Not exactly. It was a result of a few things working together. The sidewall itself is not "softer." The sidewall on the x13.5 is very durable/thick. The...

Re: Cooper or Maxxis?

Do you think some of your specs could be wrong or that Cooper changed the tires? The 37x12.50R17s seem to be a D 50 PSI tire and the 37x13.50R17 seem to be an E 65 PSI tire. I'm not trying to be picky but I find your feedback very helpful and wanted to clarify. I'm down to three tires at this point...

Re: Cooper or Maxxis?

I'm on my 3rd set of 37" Cooper STT Pros. Nothing but good things to say overall, but there is some variation based on size. I've run these tires year round and found them to perform well overall. First set was 37X13.50R17LT . Required little weight to balance. Very tough/heavy tire. 85 PSI max E ra...

Like it. So long as the sides swing far enough to not impede any loading, I think it is a winner.

I think this will probably help quite a few people out to reset their Gen 4 TPMS threshold. Once my new Powerwagon arrived, I compiled all the information I had seen posted in various posts into one list of steps and took my truck to my dealership to get my TPMS threshold lowered. They initially ran...

I've ran Gibson and MagnaFlow cat-backs. Currently running MagnaFlow. The MagnaFlow is okay, doesn't drone when cruising, throaty, tame, but not obnoxiously loud, even at heavy acceleration. I do run the full kit, resonator and muffler, some on here delete one or the other. Then there is custom exh...

Looked at it, but didn't "feel" anything in the article I read that would motivate me to pursue one.
With that said, competition is good.
If it turns out to be a good truck, it'll drive Mopar to compete with it and improve the PW further.

I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but I have nothing but good things to say about AEV and the Katla wheels. They balance with minimal weight, and the support is outstanding. I had a set 3 years ago. There was a recall on a bad batch of wheels (which I was a part of) after I had already been driv...

Does it on my 2015 as well. I've had zero issues, other than the occasional recall (of which we get plenty) so I assume it is normal.
