Re: Towing Capacity

Thanks for all the replies. We ended up signing papers for a toy hauler yesterday. Dry weight is 6373 lbs and GVWR is 9985 lbs. I was wanting to keep it under 10,000 so this should work. My SXS is around 1800 lbs so I should have around another 1800 lbs to get up to max (I better never get to max). ...

Re: Towing Capacity

Yeah, being in Wyoming the majority of my towing will be at over 6000 feet in elevation. I'm thinking I want to keep the GVWR at under 10,000 lbs. and the dry weight of the camper under 7000 lbs.

Towing Capacity

Will a Power Wagon handle a toy hauler (bumper pull) with a gross dry weight of 8300 lbs? GVWR of the camper is 12,000 lbs and dry hitch weight is 1500 lbs. I would do airbags, but I'm still wondering if it will be to much when loaded with a side X side, gear, etc.? It doesn't take to much to get up...

Truetrac front and rear in combo with BLD = awesome on and off road
I like how you think. That would be a sweet setup.

Re: Bought a Jeep

FYI, they had the brake-lock traction control system, and while it's certainly not a locker, you'd be surprised what it'll do stock with that system alone. Put it in 4lo, and get a wheel up and spinning, and the computer applies brake force to just that spinning wheel, the diff routes power to the ...

Re: Bought a Jeep

Do you have to divide the number of driveshaft spins by 2 (for the tire revolutions) to get the gear ratio? I have never heard of that before. It will either be 3:23 or 3:73 as that is all they did for the sport. I hope it's 3:73's. No. If it has a locker or limited slip it is one spin, if it is op...

Re: Bought a Jeep

Yeah looks like a small lift to me. Any coil spacers? If its an open dif, jack one tire up and spin it 2 revolutions. However many times the driveshaft spins is your gearing. Yeah, looks like spacers on the top of the springs, I think it is a leveling kit with 1" in the rear and 2" up front. I coul...

Re: Bought a Jeep

Well, jacked the rear up and it's a one wheel wonder. I guess that's a good excuse for air lockers front and rear. Still don't know the gear ratio, no tag on the pumpkin.

Re: Bought a Jeep

Congratulations! Keeping it stock or have you already started planning mods? I think it has a slight lift of 1.5 or 2 inches the way it sits with the Rubicon wheels and 245 tires. I'll probably eventually do a winch, but that will be it. Well, except for maybe an air locker up front. I still need t...

Bought a Jeep

2012 JK Sport with 49,000 miles. Has wheels off a 13 Rubicon. Always wanted a newer Wrangler to go with the 47 Willys. It is Orange Crush so you don't miss it.

Re: Lifetime Power Train Warranty for 3G

Have the lifetime powertrain warranty on our 08 Durango and it was free when we purchased it. It will go in for its 2nd inspection in July. I have the lifetime bumper to bumper on my 10 PW and on our 17 Grand Cherokee. Paid $2800 on the PW and $2600 for the GC. It's a no brainer for me to have the w...

I don't know....anything without 4:56 gears probably doesn't deserve the Power Wagon name. Probably why it stopped.

Re: 4-Wheel Drive Light

Word of advice.......when you have a problem with the Transfer Case position sensor go ahead and just change it. That or you can be on top of a mountain deer hunting a year and a half later and it completely dies. When it dies it also doesn't allow the smart bar to work and I was unable to engage t...

Re: Oil Loss/Consumption???

Our Durango with the 5.7 Hemi burns oil. Usually around 2 quarts per every oil change. I use High Mileage Mobil 1 and change it every 5000 miles. It doesn't smoke at all and runs fine, spark plugs always look good. I sometimes wonder if it is the MDS that causes it. My PW without burns none.

Re: Gas caps.......WTF !

Our Durango is always setting that code. After changing out the gas cap, and other parts that cost over a $100 it still sets the code a couple times a month. I ended up just buying a $12 code reader off of Amazon and keep it in the vehicle. I just clear the code whenever it comes on.

2017 Bumpers

Does anyone know if the 2017 black bumpers will fit on older Gen 4 Powerwagons?

I would like to get black bumpers and grill for my 2010, and aftermarket is way too expensive.

Re: WHITE Knuckle Sliders

When my wife and I were dating she bought a used Ford Escape. It was a nice vehicle for the time we had it, but I made sure that time was short before it became a rust bucket. i could open the hood and any exposed unpainted metal was corroding. The vehicle came from Michigan and had only spent a cou...
