Re: Fed up!!! (More dura trash)

What load range are the stock Duratracs? A Power Wagon should only have Load Range D or E tires. They're not using Load Range C Duratracs are they? If so that is the issue. I'm in Wyoming as well. I've had Hankook MT's and AT's. The AT's sucked, the MT's were okay. I now have the Cooper ST Maxx and ...

Re: Locker Issues....

I don't know how fast you're moving when you try to engage your lockers, but activation is inhibited above 3 MPH. I turn my locker knob, then turn my steering wheel to cause rotational difference between the axles and just let the truck creep forward. Bingo every time! That's how I've always done m...

Re: Locker Issues....

They're back to screwing up again. When I turn the knob to lock the rear the unlocked light will flash along with the front locker light. Really odd flashing. I guess I'll take it back to the dealer and see if they can find anything wrong this time. Damn things, I'm really going to need them when th...

Re: Locker Issues....

These damn lockers are going to drive me insane.. They'll work fine and the next time they won't work at all. Then the rear will lock, but the front won't. I have no idea, other than it is an electrical gremlin of some sort. I'd take it back to the dealer, but it will be a repeat of last time and th...

Re: Locker Issues....

Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the lockers and they seem to be working fine now. I think that it was the transfer case position switch screwing up even though it said it was in 4-lo. Putting it in and out of 4 wheel drive several times must have fixed the "glitch". Good news is the dealer ...

Re: Locker Issues....

Went out tonight and tried the lockers and they locked in instantly. Tried a few more times and sometimes they'll engage and sometimes they won't. Thinking it is a wiring/connector issue of some sort maybe the smart bar.

Re: Locker Issues....

Snap-On scanners have the ability to read final drive control module/SmartBar codes and live data. Find a shop near you that offers free code reading and has a Snap-On or other professional grade scanner (Autel, OTC, Matco, Mac, etc.) and see if that can give you any more info to work with. If you ...

Re: Locker Issues....

Do the 4WD and 4LOW indicator lights function properly on the instrument cluster and accurately correspond to the transfer case shifter position? I've had a faulty transfer case position sensor inhibit my locker and swaybar function in the past. Yeah, that was changed last year so I've been down th...

Locker Issues....

Did a search and couldn't find a similar issue. My lockers won't engage and now my sway bar disconnect seems to be acting up as well. When I go to lock the rear it just flashes and occasionally the green unlock light will sometimes flash once. The front locker light will sometimes flash as well. I h...

See how it does on our first trip when loaded, but I couldn't even tell the trailer was behind me towing it home. Crazy how easy it towed.

Re: Towing Capacity

Thanks for all the replies. We ended up signing papers for a toy hauler yesterday. Dry weight is 6373 lbs and GVWR is 9985 lbs. I was wanting to keep it under 10,000 so this should work. My SXS is around 1800 lbs so I should have around another 1800 lbs to get up to max (I better never get to max). ...

Re: Towing Capacity

Yeah, being in Wyoming the majority of my towing will be at over 6000 feet in elevation. I'm thinking I want to keep the GVWR at under 10,000 lbs. and the dry weight of the camper under 7000 lbs.

Towing Capacity

Will a Power Wagon handle a toy hauler (bumper pull) with a gross dry weight of 8300 lbs? GVWR of the camper is 12,000 lbs and dry hitch weight is 1500 lbs. I would do airbags, but I'm still wondering if it will be to much when loaded with a side X side, gear, etc.? It doesn't take to much to get up...

Truetrac front and rear in combo with BLD = awesome on and off road
I like how you think. That would be a sweet setup.

Re: Bought a Jeep

FYI, they had the brake-lock traction control system, and while it's certainly not a locker, you'd be surprised what it'll do stock with that system alone. Put it in 4lo, and get a wheel up and spinning, and the computer applies brake force to just that spinning wheel, the diff routes power to the ...

Re: Bought a Jeep

Do you have to divide the number of driveshaft spins by 2 (for the tire revolutions) to get the gear ratio? I have never heard of that before. It will either be 3:23 or 3:73 as that is all they did for the sport. I hope it's 3:73's. No. If it has a locker or limited slip it is one spin, if it is op...

Re: Bought a Jeep

Yeah looks like a small lift to me. Any coil spacers? If its an open dif, jack one tire up and spin it 2 revolutions. However many times the driveshaft spins is your gearing. Yeah, looks like spacers on the top of the springs, I think it is a leveling kit with 1" in the rear and 2" up front. I coul...

Re: Bought a Jeep

Well, jacked the rear up and it's a one wheel wonder. I guess that's a good excuse for air lockers front and rear. Still don't know the gear ratio, no tag on the pumpkin.

Re: Bought a Jeep

Congratulations! Keeping it stock or have you already started planning mods? I think it has a slight lift of 1.5 or 2 inches the way it sits with the Rubicon wheels and 245 tires. I'll probably eventually do a winch, but that will be it. Well, except for maybe an air locker up front. I still need t...

Re: Lifetime Power Train Warranty for 3G

Have the lifetime powertrain warranty on our 08 Durango and it was free when we purchased it. It will go in for its 2nd inspection in July. I have the lifetime bumper to bumper on my 10 PW and on our 17 Grand Cherokee. Paid $2800 on the PW and $2600 for the GC. It's a no brainer for me to have the w...

I don't know....anything without 4:56 gears probably doesn't deserve the Power Wagon name. Probably why it stopped.
