Re: Tire chains

Can't turn to full lock. Haven't looked yet to see if they're rubbing the sway bar or the radius arm (probably the sway bar), every time I put them on or take them off I'm going somewhere and I'm in a hurry. Not that big of a deal, just makes the tight turn into my driveway a three point turn now. T...

Re: Tire chains

I use Pewag 7mm square link chains with cams. The heavy duty ones, front and rears. I wanted a pair of heavy duty square links and a lighter pair of pattern chains, but my dealer didn't have anything light duty that would fit 35" tires. Next time I put them on I'll try to remember to take a pic if i...

The price is too high on this, but I have been imagining something similar for RAMBOX trucks:

That's where I'd put mine if I had one (in a Rambox bed), but yeah, $70+ is absurd for some bent plate with holes in it.

Re: Recovery gear questions!

And sliding on ice in a tank is a very uncomfortable feeling unless you know what you're going to stop against and it isn't something you'll get in trouble for.

Re: Recovery gear questions!

I was thinking about mounting the jack. At first i was going to get the 48 and toss it in side ways with the max tracks and gas can between the bed divider and the tailgate with my hard tonneau holding it all down. The 60 won't fit there. I don't have the wheel wells in the bed because of the ram b...

Re: Oil help?!

Got tired of not finding FCA's pet Penzoil up here in Alaska and switched over to Amsoil 0w-40 on my last change. When I started the truck I could hear the ticks and noises going away over about 15 seconds. Now it starts up nice and quiet (was -10F yesterday).

Re: Tires

All types of winter conditions here. Deep powder, hard packed snow, sanded ice. When my neighborhood streets get too icy (very hilly streets, only get sanded occasionally), I have to chain up. Even folks with studs park in a flat spot and walk to the house when it gets that bad.

Re: MPG calculator versus hand calculations

My 2015's lie-o-meter is accurate for highway miles. Where it goes off is in city driving, and paints a rosier picture than reality. In city driving, the truck calculates about 0.5 to 1 mpg better than hand calculations. My guess is that the sample rate of whatever sensor is measuring fuel flow is t...

Re: Tires

I was happy with the winter performance of the stock Duratracs, and am happy with the Toyo C/T's I'm on now. The Duratracs were marginally better, but were also a narrower 33" tire versus the 35" Toyo.

Should I be surprised I had to set up the winch hook? Took care of that as soon as I got home
That's normal. Hell, half the time they don't even know there's a winch in the bumper.

Re: Intial Impressions from a Noob

Tire pressure is too high. I ran my stockers at 55 front, 50 rear. It may ride harsher than your Nissan, but this a 3/4-ton truck, and the softest riding one I've ever driven. My tires were at 95 psi from the dealership, I'm guessing they put them that high so they don't develop flat spots sitting o...

If your's weren't big-truckin' mirrors I'd take your chrome set off your hands. Crunched my pass. side on a tree branch, it's only a matter of time until I kill the driver side too. Good luck finding a home for them!

Yeah, when you sign up 2014 is the highest year in the "what year is your PW?" field. I noticed that when I signed up with my 2015.

Low Sky,
I have to ask: what yakima rack do you have with the ramboxes?
Outdoorsman 300, with a little cutting/grinding/drilling and custom hardware to fit them to the T-tracks.

Cool stuff, Mikey. Do you have any pics of what the bed corners look like under the plastic trim, before bolting the rack down?

If you don't know why you need one, you don't need one. It's a whole lot extra to spend on stuff you don't need.

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Made a couple changes to our 06 Power Wagon. 2" longer controls arms, 2.5" spacer up front, 1.5" spacer in the rear and 40 inch ltb's. Making room for the tire. I still need to cut a little more off the bumper to clear the tires. http://pics.montypics.com/akwhtbst/2017-08-02/1501693910_img_20170731...
