Re: Camping Options/ Shell?
Well we are getting closer. Got one of two versions pretty dialed in, the critical ideas like how to mount the camper, sealing surfaces, transit packaging, how to mount fabric, door mounting is all figured out. Need to design the internal reinforcements and try to keep the weight down. Seems like y...

Re: Winching Question
 I have done a fair amount of winching. I know people will say "DO NOT EVER DO THAT", but here is the hardest winch job I have done with my truck. Trying to winch the bottom of a tree (had about 3' of trunk left on it) back over, roots and all, that the wind blew over. First tried the truck in...

Re: Broken shock mount
It does look like shock was bottoming out. First it sheared at the top part. Most likely hitting shock internally. You can see granular structure -stress shear. It was still hanging on by a bit at the bottom. That flexed for a bit and then departed. Smooth metal - sings of fatigue shear. It's not sh...

Re: Some dune action
Thanks on kind words. Here is one casualty of a trip. Whoever designed transmission cooler attached to main radiator is total dumb ass. From all the shaking over years. It finally chewed a hole through aluminum. I've started loosing notable amount of coolant on day 1. Being in a desert and all didn'...

Re: Some dune action
I usually air down to 15-18 PSI this time I didn't since plan was to cross dunes in a harry on way to randevu down south with rest of a groop for very cold first night We trailed sorta along southern border of OR to Owyhee canyon. Few paved roads. Some gravel and lots of nearly abandoned two tracks....

Some dune action
Made a long excursion along OR NV border. Hit Christmas Valley dunes along the way. First time in dunes since putting new front axle & Bilsteins. Rig behaved surprisingly well. Much better than before but I'd have to admit sand was pretty firm this time around. No wheel-hop to speak of. http://lh3.g...

It almost looks like you missing chunks out of left side gear. Or is it just play of light. My right side was all chewed up. Wisth I took a picture but it was too distressing at a time.

Re: Bent axle
Nice mileage. Is you truck adjusted for tire size?
It would be great time to put on some manual hubs. I gained 1 mpg or so after I swapped bent axle. Mine was worse though.

Re: Bent axle
Maybe it's not horrible. Simple geometry tells (considering that tie-rod didn't get bent and all was swell before). You are off between 1/4" and 1/2" vertically, axle bows down (corresponds well to what your measured) and 1/8" to 1/4" horizontal, bows forward. I'm curious what did you do to your rig...

I dont get that link, is it in Canada? It says an assembly is available and to click here for details, I do but it doesn't do anything on my end. Yes. Got to give them a call. Somewhere in Quebec. Re: Bent axle
Oh look. Your control arms are all bent too. It's a considerable deviation from plumb on the wheels. You'd figure similar drop at the pumpkin. New center sections on 2010 are beefier. Maybe just maybe you bent passenger side axle tube. Get a filler gauge. And see if there is any gap where ...
