Re: Camper/Toy Hauler Advice

How handy are you? My experiences with trailers is they're all built like shit till you get into the $100k+ range. Doesn't matter if you buy a "good name-brand" or some discount one, they're all the same cheap slapped-together crap that lasts just long enough to get it off the dealer's lot. Scotch-l...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Man the white paint still shines on your truck. You shouldn't really have to but a deezee heavyweight bed mat would take care of that gouging. I have a drop in liner so loads slide and the HD bed mat provides grip but it's so thick nothing can gouge it. I have a bed mat from my old-old half-ton. St...

Another epoxy repair job on the feature that holds the reading lamp lens in. https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Ram-2500/i-fQ3pQBG/0/a5bf1ed8/L/IMG_20181001_181932833_HDR-L.jpg Dumb design; not a lot of support on that part. https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Ram-2500/i-n9CsZ9x/0/beb69707/L/IMG_201810...

Re: Dash Cam Install

Yeah, the "smart" power adapter has a low-volt cutoff, intended to be connected to a motorcycle's battery. I wired it to an ignition-switched circuit. Might rework that and bypass the cutoff, since the engine has to be running to trip the cutoff and provide power to the DVR/cameras. Can't fire up th...

Dash Cam Install

Late June I was assholed by a teen driver who i'm guessing fell asleep at the wheel. Hitch ran through her grille/hood somehow missing all the important bits behind there. Month or two later i'm in a construction zone, and the dude in front of me smokes the concrete jersey barrier. Decided it was ti...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Local line-x shop quoted me about $400 for it a few years ago. I've got: (2) gallon kits, $80/ea (2) quarts, $30/ea $220 right there, more than half of their quote just for the materials. Add in a couple more $$ for tape, xylene, drop cloths, paint trays, etc. Then factor in two weekends of dicking ...

Re: Give plasti dip a try

"Dipped" the swing arm on my moto a few years ago, really impressed at how well it's held up. Easy to patch if it does start to get scraped up.

I'd consider dipping my truck's wheels, but I really don't care that much about them at this point :rofl

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Drove the truck to the grocery store last wednesday. Truck sounded louder than usual. Got home, and sure enough, exhaust had fully separated right after the cats. Poked around under there and figured out what coupler/etc i'd need to do the repair. Need the truck this weekend. My M18 grinder was stil...

It's dutch hardstyle, and it's not that loud. :excited:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpYn5gWferE Oddly, the glue sorta half-failed. Half the glue is adhered to the button, other half is still stuck to the glass. Split right down the middle. :wtf: https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Ram-2500/i...

Re: o ring for p/s reservoir

yup, or find a local industrial shop that can make an O-ring for you, if they don't have something off the shelf that'll work.

Bearing/motion supply shops can usually do some sealing work as well. I've got a shop nearby that specializes in seals/packing/O-rings.

Do they make any sort of "seal savers" for trucks, like they do for dirtmobiles?

Yes, it'll do it.

Take it slow and watch temps on the long uphill pulls, but it'll get the job done.
I go over the continental divide just about every weekend all winter long.

7-10k on the hook is fine, stock. I pull the low side of that through the mountains regularly, truck does just fine. +1 for airbags if you're pulling heavier stuff. Truck will squat with 1k lbs tongue weight. Rides real nice with ~1k lbs of snowmobile+fuel+gear in the bed. That seems the be the swee...
