Re: New direction for this forum

I'm still a fan of xenforo as the better software honestly. Better mobile support, modern features like liking posts, etc. http://www.ramforum.com/ https://americanadventurist.com/forum/ https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/ https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/ ADVRider switched to that a few ye...

Bmuping an old thread... Anyone using Discord? Could set up a server on there real quick.

Web app, mobile apps. Works fairly well, lots of convenient features.

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

RFS = Racing Four Stroke. Things are wound up a bit tighter in there than a DR650. High-50s/low-60s hp numbers on my 525, vs. mid-40's for the DR. 525's 272lbs ready-to-ride, vs. 320+ dry weight on the 650. Gotta pay for that performance somewhere. "Keeps Taking Money"... :cash: Still better than th...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Do the dirt bikes have the same problems the LC4’s had with the crappy Turkish cam bearings?? Crank bearing. Replaced the original roller bearings with heavy-duty ball bearings at ~6k miles. Replaced the clutch-side bearing in '16 since it felt crispier than I was comfortable with. Now it's the sta...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Do the dirt bikes have the same problems the LC4’s had with the crappy Turkish cam bearings?? Most of the reason mine has issues is because it's got about 30,000 miles on it  Replaced most of the bearings a few years back, one of the crank bearings got replaced 2yrs ago. If it's a rocker/cam ...

Finally got around to drilling out the bolts on the skid plate/frame that Firestone fucked up when they did the fuel pump replacement. https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Ram-2500/i-hMt5ZSd/0/380b647f/L/IMG_20180527_174743316-L.jpg Gave up and drilled two new holes just above the old ones. :\ https://...

Re: Easy Ideas for Hot Food on the Trail

Anything switch-mode (most power supplies) can take modified sine just fine. Rectified, plenty of input capacitance to clean things up, then it goes through the switcher with pretty fast feedback loop (usually a few hundred khz) where it goes through more filtering to provide DC to the load. Most of...

Re: Easy Ideas for Hot Food on the Trail

Snowmobilers have "Hot doggers" and "Muffpots" for that - clamps onto the exhaust pipe. Bikeman even makes a "Munchie Muffler" that integrates the mount right into the can. Pork chops/steak - quick sear on the grill, almost cooked, wrap in foil then chuck into the muffpot. They'll be cooked...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Studded is great on snow/ice, they're just noisy and kind of skatey on dry pavement and offroad. What I wouldn't recommend is pulling studs out of a studded tire. Get another set. :cash: https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Ram-2500/i-qz8CNDN/0/c9b77a53/L/IMG_20160521_143810355_HDR-L.jpg https://photos...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Yeah, put 315/70R17's on there a few years ago. Had them studded, pulled the studs out that summer (wouldnotrecommend/10) with the intention to use those tires in the summers and get another set of studded tires for the winter. With the shitty winters we've been having, I haven't gotten another set ...

The drama continues. So the pump that they put in saturday morning had a bad level sender.
