2006 Quad Cab in SE Tennessee

Hate to do it boys but the PW has to go. Typical life getting in the way dealing with being laidoff last may and having to start back over in a new line of work. I will try to list what i know and will provide more pictures on request. I know most of yall are in the NW and Midwest but for those who ...

Re: Rear Pinion Seal Leaking...

be careful about marking the nut on the pinion. I have talked to a few driveline places local that build crawlers and buggys and they have all said that the main reason for the seal leakage is the pinion nut backing off which will cause the pinion to move slightly. When taking the driveshaft off che...

Locker actuator

Trying to figure out how the magnets on the locker play their part in engagement of the front locker. I found that when the factory switch on a 3rd gen truck is turned to rear lock, usually the locker will lock up even if you have a flashing light. The sense wires only detect whether it is locked, w...

Re: 2014 White Knuckle Sliders installed

That's awesome. I ordered mine about 4 wks ago, had them shipped directly to the local Line-X dealer. I'll pick them up from there once they're finished. I ordered the .120" tube, not the .188", but I ordered them in the stronger HREW not the standard DOM, with full length diamond playing, in bare ...

Re: Rock Sliders are built

they look good. Back when i was building sliders for Land Rovers, I draw a perfect rectangle on the concrete shop floor using a corner where the relief cuts were made. Then I could fit tubing in the rectangle to make sure it was a perfect match to the other side. It made it a lot easier to just cut ...

Oh, i didn't say I it was going to work, or that I had great patients, but as of now especially since i have a 3G truck that is really my only option if I want to use the original knob.

Re: New Locker List for 4th Gen's

there is enough info on this board to figure it out. I personally have pretty well decided i am going to give it a try. I have a 3G truck out of warranty, so the plug and play isn't a deal breaker for me. I am more than likely going to splice it all in since there aren't connectors available. Two re...

Re: Snorkel Question

you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The snorkels are more about breathing good air and keeping water out of the engine than the "ram" effect. Heck many people who had Safari snorkels would rotate their scoop backwards during bad rain, which would have no "ram" effect. Your engine is going to...

Re: Off Road Rack for new power wagon

not sure how good this will be for the center of gravity for the truck. I would think an aluminum rack would be ok, but not steel. When you start piling stuff on top of the rack it can make the vehicle act real squirrely offroad, or even on road around curves. No doubt it looks cool though, i have j...

Re: 37

I say do it!! then let us know how it goes. I don't need tires at the moment but really wanted to bypass the 35s and get 37s with stock wheels and no lift. I don't mind trimming and could probably work up some bent control arms if need be. Once the tires are on there you can see where you need to ma...

coder wrote: Make me one, splice or no splice , and I will buy it. Why not just order them as needed from the factory at https://connectorrepairkit.mopar.com , it cost a lot more, but add it to the overall cost and be done with it. That gets my vote.

sounds good to me

How about an all in one inverter and welder. I had one of these on my Land Rover years ago. http://www.premierpowerwelder.com

Re: 3rd Gen Smartbar Locker Bypass

we had previously thought about a splice in version, but from what i gather it would have to be a unanimous decision among all 3rd gen guys. There wouldn't be any reason for ordering or looking for connectors for a handful of people especially if the minimum order is over 100.

Re: 3rd Gen Smartbar Locker Bypass

should we start a poll or something on the main forum to see how many people with 3G wagons would switch to the non-connector type?

Re: 3rd Gen Smartbar Locker Bypass

well, i am down for the spliced in version. I'd say that if anyone has every wired in lights it shouldn't be any worse than that, especially if you don't even have to cut and splice.

Re: 3rd Gen Smartbar Locker Bypass

with all the problems with finding the connector, why not make one that has to be spliced in? I know it would be a PITA but i wouldn't oppose it, after all my truck is not exactly new anymore.

Re: For Real Locker Times

yeah, i would love to hardwire, but really want to keep the stock switch. I will hold out for the bypass, but it isn't looking very promising at the moment because of the Chinese suppliers. I may end up getting the bypass and just splicing it in if all else fails.

Re: For Real Locker Times

For Real Locker Times

Just got my new to me 2006 PW last week. I have been wanting one since they came out, and finally got one. I am pretty excited, I have read quite a bit of the posts regarding the lockers on this forum, but this was all after purchase. I got a pretty clean truck, for the year, no mud caked on in all ...
