Re: 2wd Low Range

I had a land rover discovery that could do this. It was very handy for towing my 8000# boat on hills. Primarily to utilize braking though gear reduction and engine compression.

Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20

I traded my 2012PW for the 2016PW. Got $27,500 with 51,000 miles. That was after the deduct of $1500 for a torn up rocker panel and a deduct of $1500 for the lockers not working. I also kept the factory incentives and returning customer credit. The 2012 is really a better truck. You're better keepin...

Re: 2016 Lockers

The dealer tried hard to sell me the lifetime warranty. It was like $8k if I recall. Told them *uck no. Btw, I tried to argue the point with the dealer on my 2012PW that the lockers are covered under the powertrain component of the warranty. Negative ghostrider. They are not. The warranty on the loc...

Re: 2016 Lockers

I ordered the locker kit a few months ago. Arrived very quickly. I don't recall if it was from CajunPW but the email addy from the fella I ordered mine from is LockerBypass@outlook.com Haven't had any time to install them yet. The factory lockers on my 2016 work a hell-of-a-lot better than the garba...

Re: Protecting our paint - Is plastidip the answer?

The Arabs use a really interesting spray can product to protect their paint when driving across the desert. It sprays on in a pinkish/ vomit color but wears like iron. They power wash it off when they reach their destination. I'm not sure what it's called but a google search will pull it up I'm sur...

How about we solve the annoying shifting issues of the new Power Wagons by demanding RAM offer the PW with the 6 speed manual transmission!

There, I just solved the problem ;)

Re: Spare Parts You Carry

For this vehicle, really the only spares I take are wire-rope clamps ((crosby clamps), tire repair kit and a battery booster. Never a mechanical failure with a RAM yet.

For my Hummer H1, a semi-truck loaded with crap!

2016 PW Valve train clatter

I thought I read about this in another post but couldn't locate it. I have a 2016 Power Wagon Tradesman with 6.4l MDS Hemi. I traded my 2012 Power Wagon for it (and regretted it ever since...) It has 3200 miles on it now. I've owned it since early January. I'm hearing a lot of valve train clatter up...

Re: Decisions

Recently traded my 2012 PW for the 2016PW. I'm not sold on the 6.4 multi-displacement motor. The PW is far too heavy for the MDS to be very useful and sure seems like a point for maintenance and computer problems down the road. I really miss the 4.56 gears in my 2012 PW. The new suspension feels a l...

Re: Tire Feedback

wow, great thread. A couple of points I thought I would add. The stock BFG's that came with my 2012 truck were awful. I think the majority of us agree with that. They are only "ok" on snowy paved roads. They are pretty good on soft sandy desert trails. That's about it. Ran mine bald at about 40k mil...

Dual Battery Installation 2016 PW

Has anyone done a dual battery installation on their 2016 PW? If so, any experience or comments regarding National Luna isolators? Any installation photos? Thoughts on other brands? Intent of isolation: Isolate a dedicated starting battery which can be brought online if needed to help with winching....

Re: Couple of technical questions from a potential PW owner

The hill descent mode is pretty much the same system used by Land Rover for decades. It's very handy for steep hill descents in washouts, rocks, etc. Using the ABS system is nothing new. Hummer H1 used it, Land Rover used it. Mercedes G-wagons. etc. No reason to fear the lack of engine braking. You ...

Re: Couple of technical questions from a potential PW owner

Snows led has a lemon jk jk. The electronic nannies are nasty now but that comes with all new vehicles. The argument is the pw should not have had them or have a full switch off system. It won't be long until we figure out how to make it like it should be. The principal of the truck is sound. And i...

thanks for the pointers guys. I did just find a gem of a video of a 2015 PW with Boss plow being tested at the RAM cold weather proving grounds. Looks like after all is said and done $$$-wise, and considering the wear factor on the truck, its best just to get a tractor for the plow work. Can never h...

well I see it's been covered already. This is the video that I think best covers it. Even the bestest winching extraordinaire engineer experts often times don't know how to reverse winch by winching forward. It's a good skill to know and a handy camp trick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBphM-ujnF...

Power Wagon snow plow

Has anyone mounted a snow plow on their Power Wagon? I'm thinking of having a plow for my 2016 Power Wagon if I can get amount that doesn't detract from the the approach angle then the blade is not installed. Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Improve 2016 mpg

I just traded my 5.7L 2012 PW for the 2016 6.4L. In retrospect, I wish I hadn't. The Leaf spring suspension and the 5.7L motor with 4.56 was a far, far better set up then the 5-link coil, 4:10 and 6.4L. The set up on the 2016 feels completely wrong. Feels a lot less powerful. On the 2012 I got about...
