Re: 10mm Doubles

I have to say, that Caspian frame and slide are works of art. Thank-you. They do a good job. When I was finished, I bead blasted the frame, and used Mother's metal polish and newspaper on the slide several times. After I was finished building it, as you could imagine, the frame had several handling...

Re: Block heater

My understanding, being from the cold north, is unless there's an inline thermostat, with a built in relay to break the circuit, is the "heater" is a two sided wire, with a 3-prong, 3-phase, 120V, male end, and the other a resistive heat coil set into the bottom of a cylinder plug, usually at the co...

Re: Lockers in 4HI

Thanks for the diagram BLM! Do you know if it was ever figured out how to run theblocker bypass through the factory knob? Is that only possible through the locker bypass or is it possible to piggyback those wires through a relay to run as a bypass, thereby leaving all factory wiring in place but no...

Re: 10mm Doubles

I got rid of every 1911 I have ever owned and don't miss them for one second. I needed a Limited division 40SW race gun so I bought a CZ TS. I've been shooting against 2011's that cost three times what I paid and are lucky to make it through a magazine without a failure. 1911's and 2011's are fun t...

Re: 10mm Doubles

That's a lot of money and still needs a good bit of smithing to get it to run right. Makes me want to go out and buy an off the shelf Ed Brown ;). I guess it's the satisfaction of building it yourself that really matters. Yes it is a lot for parts. It comes as a raw frame & slide (I had an integral...

Re: 10mm Doubles

Have you tuned the mags? Double stack 1911s are very sensitive to feed lip geometry. Stem-bind feed malfunctions are often related to magazines. Do you have Jerry Kuhnhausen's book? 1. Went with single stack---I know the thread started as a desire for a double stack 1911--the cost for a Caspian dou...

It’s done

The 10mm custom hand built gun is done. It was fun. It was frustrating at times. Certain phases were very tedious. It required a lot of reading, measuring, marking, machining, sanding, stoning, polishing, & patience, but it’s about 99% done. All in: ~nearly $2K & 60hrs labor I have put 250rnds testi...

Love the ‘16 Laramie but disliked all the chrome so I powder coated the front bumper and wheels, replaced the rear bumper, added EGR flares, changed mirrors and added grille off of ‘17 PW. Also 4.88 gears and ProCal

Re: Steering Braces

It was a bit of a pain getting everything lined up...I had to completely drop my swaybar to get it to seat all the way. Quality was fine, no issues. I did not notice a huge improvement. My truck was about 18mo old when i installed it, maybe the steering linkage hadn’t loosened up enough to notice.

Greetings! I've been a guest on this site for a while now. I pulled the trigger on a new 2017 RAM Power Wagon! I'm going to pick her up on Tuesday. I'd love to give the new PW 6.4 Hemi some rumble, 35's, and lightning upgrades. Oh and delete those factory sidesteps. Welcome, great color. Drop those...

Re: "Welcome Thread"

picked up my 2017 PW last month in Northern VA., drove it across country to AZ pulling a small trailer (maybe 4k lbs total) and didn't care a bit about the MPG. The ride was excellent, all 5 days worth of it. I ordered white knuckle rock sliders a couple of days after I purchased it, still waiting ...

It has a satin hood, auto, and sunroof. He added the Brass Monkey wheels separately and were not part of the price he paid. The Laguna leather is the interior upgrade I was talking about and it does not have that. The interior of his car does not feel the same as my truck despite being similar. I b...

Re: 10mm Doubles

I wasn't under the impression we were ever discussing custom guns. You're definitely right that you can't get into a full custom (or even semi-custom) from a big name for what it's going to cost to build your own. Ha, well we weren't initially, the OP was trying to get input on a ~$1000-$1500 10mm ...
