A semi tire blowout always concerns me when I’m near them on my bike. Even if it doesn’t take you down, the giant chunks of rubber would hurt like hell!

Or worse yet, when their blowout causes them to quickly swerve into you and take you out! :excited:

Re: Fed up!!! (More dura trash)

I have said this before, I think the manufacturers tires that are on many new vehicles are either made to a different standard or they are blems that they buy in LARGE quantities to get huge discounts. Vehicles that we bought new that had tire problems of one sort or another & they only last half a...

Re: Towing advice

The tires would be my first concern. I didn't find a BFGOODRICH in that size that was D rated - looks like they are C or E in that size - but I may have missed a tire... Assuming the tires are not an issue, the Laramie wont have a problem with a 7600# trailer. If it's a camper, he should use a load ...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

Honestly this should be a warning. I was backing up on an obstacle in Moab in 4LO in reverse down a hill and the truck... would... not... stop... i had to throw it in neutral to stop it. Maybe we should mention this in PWiM next time because it caught me off guard... Sent from my SM-G955U using Tap...

The 4.5 gen Laramie pigs are heavy - and the White Knuckle .188 DOM sliders add 300 pounds. And I'm not a lightweight either...
even my heavy duty receiver tongue and ball are over 50 lbs.

The thicker frame... bigger rear pumpkin... multi-link... nanny's... list goes on and on

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

The lowest gear we have in the 66-RFE is Reverse 4.44:1
Low range - down hill - reverse - the brakes don't have a chance!
Rev 4.44
1st 3.23
2nd 1.84
3rd 1.41
4th 1.00 direct drive
5th 0.82 overdrive
6th 0.62 overdrive

Re: Tire Pressures

I run 65 psi front and rear - once a year in October or November I add about 5 psi to get back to 65 psi when the temps drop. Don’t use the truck for play much anymore. :( My kidneys would shoot me if I ran those pressures unloaded. If I had your Toyo 35's, I wouldn't run 65 psi. The 33 Dur...

Re: Fed up!!! (More dura trash)

They stamped the tread pattern into the new seats. LOL! Very likely a financially motivated decision... Perhaps something that Goodyear suggested in return for providing ultra low costs for the OEM tires to Fiat... Nobody loves a tire so much that they would want it's tread pattern in their seat!

Re: Fed up!!! (More dura trash)

It seems like the Duratrac durability has been going down hill since 2014. The newest model trucks are reporting the most issues by far - with multiple flats - especially on dirt roads. My Duratracs (probably manufactured in 2013) have been rock solid on and off road, even with numerous trips at 26,...

Re: Tire Pressures

Thuren has some great notes about Tire Pressures on these trucks on his site too: Notes on tire pressure With any pick-up truck being much lighter in the rear, compared to the front, you should run less tire pressure in the rear. With the engine assembly being so heavy on these heavy Diesel Rams, t...

Yes, the higher elevations choke away your power! Threads on the site here where I quantified the amount of reduced power at elevation.

Re: GVWR and Payload

That upper corner of the country seems to a tad ticket happy. I've heard those stories before, thus my warning. But for most of us, not a real concern. Interestingly enough, FL just puts the GVWR on your registration, mine says 10k. The 1500 I had I recall was listed at 7500 despite that not being ...

Re: Tires! BFG KM3 Verus Toyo MT

Continued musings over 35" tires no with some miles under my belt. Other then needing to deflate and use a giant crowbar to get your spare put back....I still am blown away by how gearing, traction, shift points, stability, handling.....It sure feels like these trucks were engineered with 35s in mi...

Re: GVWR and Payload

You can never change the sticker. But the only thing lowering the rating on these trucks is the suspension. But when you replace the suspension with upgrades it'll get a little worse and a little better in different aspects. At the end of the day I personally use the normal 2500 gas payload and tow...
