Re: Tell me about your air bags!

The passenger side bag, under load ( my camper), at 52 psi right now. The silver disc is still visible on one side. It didn't pop out while I was test driving it and I did some sways and sharp turns at speed. Hopefully it will center itself eventually.

I put the schrader valves next to the license plate lights so I wouldn't accidentally kick them.

Alignment was a bit off on the passengers side. I tried both positions, neither were ideal.

I compressed the airbag to get it into the cradle and through the mounting holes on top.

Re: Tell me about your air bags!

I installed the bags today. It took me a little longer than normal because I'm slow. ;) I put them in without lifting my truck at all, which might have been a little extra work. I have the upper bracket bolted in and the lower bracket loosely mounted.

Re: Tell me about your air bags!

I don't want a 2 megaton explosion! It seems like the cradles are designed for a smaller diameter airbag. It says useable for any 6" airbag...and the airbags I have are greater than 6" in diameter. If I was designing these things the metal end plate would bottom out in the cradle and be guided into ...

Re: Tell me about your air bags!

The metal base of my airbag is 6.5" wide, so it doesn't sit all the way in the bottom of the cradle. The edges of the metal disc sit on the taper of the cradle...it am a little concerned given the force involved that the force will all be on edge of the metal disc, and that will be transferred to th...

Re: Tell me about your air bags!

I received the DayStar cradles yesterday and after fitting everything up I notice that the airbag stop (the metal disc) does not bottom out in the taper of the cradle. It is making me nervous...should the base of the airbag rest on the bottom of the DayStar cradle? Or does it matter if it is caught ...

Re: Tell me about your air bags!

I did exactly the same thing! I ordered the torklifts and they are awesome. My camper doesn't move an inch (literally) and I upgraded to heavier load rated tires. After a weekend camping trip this weekend I decided to order the Firestone airbags and Daystar cradles. The Firestones arrived today (I o...

Re: Tell me about your air bags!

Thank you again for the info and pictures. I just went on no weekend jaunt down the Oregon coast and some of the roads are pretty narrow and rough for 'highway' driving. The airbags seem like a great idea for going around curves and also (just thought if this) leveling my camper! I have decided to g...

Do your airbags have the metal disc attached on both ends? I am afraid to order something from the internet and not have it work when I install it.

Tell me about your air bags!

I have been looking at adding some air bags to my 2005 Powerwagon. I've searched this site, only to find a lot of great information spread through several threads. I have looked at the Carli long travel, very nice but pricey, and at the DayStar cradle kit, which looks like a great option. I also rea...

Re: Power Wagon and light slide in camper

Thank you for posting those links! I have been considering adding airbags to my PW. It rides very smoothly with the camper on but has a tendency to sway a bit. It doesn't sway excessively, or dangerously, but it is a bit disconcerting at first. How did your ride change with the addition of the airba...

Re: Power Wagon and light slide in camper

I have an 2005 PW and a 1600 pound (loaded) camper. It is a 1994 Pastime, pretty light construction although it has a wood frame and plywood interior (no pressboard). I love both the truck and the camper...no mods except tork lift camper tie downs. Worth every penny. edit: I think the leaf springs a...

MYoung,

Best wishes to your family, I hope all is well. As stated before, family comes first! I'd like to add my name to the list, but I have an '05 wagon. I know we spoke before, I'd like to install one when you figure them out..I just want to make sure I'm on the list!

Thanks in advance.

I feel bad for you man. That really sucks, you should at least have gotten a loaner truck for your inconvenience. Good luck in your dealings with RAM.
