Re: Winch works 5 seconds or less

Thanks Coder. I give up today. It is cold and I am losing patience. I will try to work on it this weekend when it warms up. FYI, you don't have to remove the bumper to drop the winch. I removed the side rollers and upper roller on the fairlead and used an extension on the 4 bolts. Everything else c...

Re: Winch works 5 seconds or less

The winch is out now, cleaned the contacts. Hooked it to the battery and it worked fine. Unhooked battery, bolted cover on, retested, no work. Bypassed LVI, bypassed thermal, no work. Each relay in the control pack gets power to the small wires, but still won't work. I am thinking the control plug,...

Re: Winch works 5 seconds or less

Do I need to drop the winch to get the control pack off? I'm not sure, but I swear I heard electrical arcing from the control pack. It was hard to pin down because it happened so fast and my patience was gone... Yes you need to remove it, it not that hard here's what usually do. Steps: [Removal] 1)...

Re: Winch works 5 seconds or less

Battery is at least 2 years old. I bought the truck January 2016, it was in it. Should have enough juice for a no load wind up. What does the control pack look like underneath the cover is it corroded and rusted real bad if so it might be causing electrical problems and could use a good cleaning? O...

Re: Dodge Off Road brand reliability

I purchased a rear diff cover from them, I waited almost 6 months to get it, one of the welds leaked oil and the powder coating is peeling off when I got it, I emailed them about a replacement multiple times and never got a response so I have a $250 diff cover sitting on a shelf in my garage . They ...

I already bypassed the thermal cutout, so I think it might be the low voltage interrupt, but I'm not sure.
x2 on the low voltage interrupt how old is your battery?

Re: clicking sound..balljoints?

As others have said clicking is often the sound of failing u-joints it could be the joints on front axle or front driveshaft. You can't always tell if they're bad by checking for play/movement they could be dried out and binding inside . Another possibility is play in the control arm or trackbar bus...

Re: Coil bucket/shock mounts mod

- I think the weight is the primary difference, ideally, the shock valving should be designed to work in conjunction with a specific set of springs. Carli uses different Hemi and diesel springs, Thuren uses diesel springs for everything. Whoa, wait, Thuren's website lists Hemi & Diesel springs sepa...

Re: Coil bucket/shock mounts mod

If you swap to his springs, isn't the only difference between the Hemi and the CTD the weight? If so, shouldn't the lighter valving be adequate? Especially with the pig of a winch (M15) up front on the PW? Edit: Does torque application affect valving? Just trying to work through this in my mind. I ...

Re: Coil bucket/shock mounts mod

What's the advantage to Carli versus Thuren? Here's my perspective, I*'ll try to stick to the facts and leave brand loyalty bloviating out. Simalatries: - High quality suspension components - Significant R&D time invested in components/system design - Use industry leading shocks King, Fox, Bilstein...

Re: Coil bucket/shock mounts mod

For what a PW was intended for rocks, sand, rough trails, towing, hauling King 2.5's are an ideal choice without breaking the bank. You can just purchase/install Carli King 2.5 shocks without any other upgrades and add other components later as desired. I can do 45-50 mph in mine down unmaintainded ...

Re: Can the steering be made right?

I did the Mopar HD Steering Box upgrade on my 07 in the spring so far it's been great. I had two original style Redhead boxes on it before that and they developed slop relativity quickly, here's the thread on my HD box upgrade: http://forum.powerwagonregistry.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4828&p=83705#p83...

Re: Why has AEV turned to such shit?

The the RAM Truck AEV kit is an adventure themed vehicle package, the lift is engineered to that purpose, larger tires support that theme, and they do have some cool stuff the snorkel, bumper, wheels, etc. appear to be well made. If you want a true performance suspension you need to find that throug...

Re: Power Wagon Does not Make It

I saw this video on another forum and in my opinion the failure is it's a combination of the OEM tires being small for such a heavy truck and the driver not picking the right line up the hill.

Re: 3rd Gen Front Driveshaft Removal?

Hello TwinStick and TrueCowboy426, I noticed you guys both have G56's I have an automatic. 3rd Gen Front Driveshaft Removal?

Has anyone done this? I removed the bolts at the front axle first but can't seem to find a way to access the bolts were the driveshaft attaches to the transfer case the transmission brace is in the way? I have the shop manual it simply says remove the bolts. Thoughts, opinions, tips, tricks, or rand...
