Re: 66RFE Downshift Hesitation/Shudder
Figured I would post a little bit of an update here. I have had a few trials and tribulations with Sonnax replacement valve bodies (CHR145 and 146, without and with solenoid pack respectively), but after the first defective unit, I was able to find another one earlier this year and get it installed ...

Re: 4.88 vs 5.13
I want 5.13's. But it's not going to happen with the 10.5 rear. :box: I would have to swap to the 11.5. :cash: I hear you! I love my 2012 and want to keep it for a long time, but dang I wish I had 4.88s in it. I'm seriously thinking about looking into a 11.5 swap. Need to do some research. ...

Re: For those with 2019 Plus Reliability?
Sounds like you need something a little more reliable! 920c3672acb74a4a23f33f0ac4f6b368x.jpg why settle for an 8 speed when you could have 9? rear locker no disconnecting swaybar to malfunction no front locker to malfunction 9210 towing 1500 cargo super capable this truck will last forever Sounds b...

The Tach on my 2006 started behaving erratically and/or not working at all. Any ideas? And I don't want any guff from the old timers 8-) Probably the stepper motor in the gauge cluster. If it was fluttering around at any point, odds are that's the case. Fairly common if I'm not mistaken. You'...

Re: 4.88 vs 5.13
I have 5.13's in my 2016 on 37's and its just about perfect. Almost a tad too low. 4.88's and 37's basically put it back where it was with 4.10's and the stock 32/33's. Since you tow a lot, the 5.13's will probably be the better bet. Cruising at 65mph puts me right around 2000rpm and 80mph is pushin...

Re: Abel Components Full SmartBar Bypass® $699
I'm assuming that there is not much that carries over from the Locker Bypass kit you have? If I were to upgrade to this setup, the only thing I would be able to retain would be the run to the rear locker, correct? Full control over the sway bar is looking very tempting.

Some brush and a tree I cleared early Summer of last year. Pic loaded is with all the logs from the tree loaded in the bed and trailer, along with brush from around the yard. Thuren's coils (and I'm sure the stock Wagon coils would have been the same) were not happy. Drove about 30 minutes to dump i...

Re: Headers
Slip joints tend to leak a bit sometimes if you don't really crank down on the band clamp. Also, headers will allow more valve noise and exhaust pulse noises to pass through due to the thinner material than the manifold, so you will have some noisiness to deal with. As far as shimming engine mounts ...

Re: Peter's 2019 Power Wagon Build Thread
Got my Kings last week. Installed them yesterday. The valving is a 2.5. They're softer then what I thought they would be. The back is mostly installed. The rear track bar took some work and getting the truck high enough to let the axle droop to get these monster springs in was not easy. Need to tig...

Just use a quality rattle can...Steel It or something else...Eastwood makes a two part paint in an aerosol can that has a special chamber with hardener and mixes when puncture it. Re: Sonnax Line Pressure Booster for 545rfe and 66rfe
Those with the Sonnex happy? I assume with 66RFE, if you do a custom engine tune (Hemifever) that doesn't do anything for the transmission tuning? It appears on his sight he has tuning for the 8 speed but nothing for the six speed is listed. I am on the hunt for some transmission upgrades due to a ...

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?
For sure. On the tune and gears since you did both, which would you say gave you the biggest advantage? I've always missed the torque of my 8100 below 4000 rpm but if I hold lower gears the power on top is much better with the 6.4 The problem with our trucks is that the 66rfe has the same gear rati...

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?
Great input. That makes a lot of sense. I had a Kenne Bell custom tune for 91 octane on my '01 Ram and it made way more difference than the Hypertech I replaced it with (when the original ECM died.) I do like the Pulsar can read and clear codes but ultimately that's pretty doable with a ton of diff...

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?
I don't need much for features, just would like better throttle response or more power... I wouldn't personally spend my money on either. I don't have any experience with the Pedal Commander, but all it does is manipulate the signal from your pedal to act like its applying more throttle than you re...

Re: 66RFE Downshift Hesitation/Shudder
I have the same exact problem, non tuned on my 66rfe. I suspect that it’s one of three issues. 1. A cross leak caused by the valve body or transfer plate being warped, causing cross-leakage. 2. The solenoid pack is going out, but hasn’t caused any codes yet. 3. Some electronic gremlin we don’t know...

66RFE Downshift Hesitation/Shudder
It seems like since I tuned my truck recently (Diablo, Hemifever), I have been having a fairly consistent issue with shuddering during acceleration when the truck goes to downshift. Its like it hesitates as if its unsure which gear it wants to shift to, and its hard enough it almost feels like wheel...

I understand, I brought that up with the transmission guy but my beef is the with the dealer leaving me in limbo for 2 weeks on their lot before getting it to the shop they sent it out to... This issue happened in Sept and they had it on the lot for 9 days before they looked at it, then gave me the...

Talked to the Transmission shop, still waiting on parts ... wtf It will be a month tomorrow. Just FYI, Covid has really fawked with parts suppliers and manufacturing. Re: Is there an exhaust fix
Long tube headers from ARH is what I did with my 6.4. Didn't break the manifold bolts, though I don't think its as prevalent a problem with the 6.4 as it is the 5.7. The headers will resolve the broken bolt issue, but it does come at the cost of more noise under the truck. The stock manifolds keep t...

Re: No More Manual T-Case Shifter for 2021
Honestly, as long as there are no restrictions on its usage, I really don't have a problem with the use of push button. Everything else is so electrified with these trucks, I don't see adding another electronic function as a problem. I just wish they would allow for an easier manner of overriding lo...

ARH Long Tube Headers- Dipstick Tube and Tranny Cable
Just out of curiosity, any of you that have gone with long tubes, what have you done with your dipstick tube and transmission shift cable? I had to wrestle and tweak my tube back into place after installing the header, which was easily the biggest PITA of the whole install. The old manifold bolt wit...

17x8.5" wheels, I'm running 32lbs front and 25 rear with my 37x12.50 Toyo MT's...way less than a lot of other people, but that's what is getting me even tire wear and the best ride. A point that typically goes overlooked is that bigger tires require less pressure to support the same amount of weight...

Re: Rough Country Dual Stabilizer Kit
Dual steering stabilizers have always reminded me of the 80's and 90's when people where putting on as many cheap shocks as humanly possible, making their trucks ride even more like a brick. Not trying to trash talk, but honestly, this setup is a step backwards.

Re: Rough Country Dual Stabilizer Kit
:D Hey everyone. I just bought this kit and it says you have to have a minimum of 2.5 inches of lift to use it. Aside from the obvious has anyone tried it with the factory lift. it"s a half inch short of required amount. I was thinking of buying a 1.5 inch levelling kit as well if I need it. Just w...
