Re: Is this place still alive?

Rarely check in here anymore, and that’s probably a mistake.

Still got my 2016 PW, using it mostly for camping / over landing which it, in my ever so humble opinion, is perfect for. Truck is about 7 years old now and so it’s at slightly less than 70k miles.

Idler pulley & power steering fluid

Hi everyone, Recently, I was on a roadtrip / overlanding trip through Utah. Awesome time! About half way through the trip, the truck developed a "whine" from the front of the engine. I stuck my head in there and listened with my ears and it seemed to me, that the noise was coming from the power stee...

Custom rack fab?

Hi everyone, My 2016 wagon is equipped with a rack from BackRack in Canada. it's a well built "headache rack". Its doing a very nice job being the base for my 3 VHF / UHF HAM Radio antennas. However, times change, needs change. I want to outfit my truck for overlanding. First priority is to get the ...

Re: The "Real Reliability"

Sorry to hear about all the stuff you've had to deal with. My '16 has been *very* reliable so far, but I'm also only at 33500 miles. The single biggest source of frustration for me, is the transmission. It's been perfectly reliable for me, but it's so damn clunky and crude. The shifts are smooth in, ...

Re: Re-installing a couple of HAM radios

Today I got the IC-7000 wired up with the voltage booster, tuner and control head. A few days ago, I decided to move the mics form one side of the console to the other Here is how the setup looks today: https://beta-static.photobucket.com/images/w69/alisoa4/1/5dc2ca53-84e2-47bd-85b7-764a0e659300-ori...

Made some progress today:

Still need to connect the good 'ol IC-7000's control head and HF antenna, but at least I now have FM & DMR on VHF and UHF

Who do you want to chat with, and what do they have? (Go with that.)
-Probably the single best / most important question to ask. -Especially if you ever want to be able to use a radio for emergency comms.

Re-installing a couple of HAM radios

Hi everyone, Ever since I got my '16 wagon, I have used 2 radios, an Icon IC-7000 for HF, VHF and UHF, and a Motorola XPR 5550 for FM & DMR on UHF. Well, recently, I decided that the way I had the radios installed ( both control heads remote mounted upfront, radios tucked away under the back seat) w...

Good call..... found a few videos. I think I'm going to live without the 2 outlets (12 volts and USB Data). Too complicated.

Re: Relocating the USB / 12 Volt outlet from the center console?

Hi guys, I'm working on a project to remove the stock center console and replace it with a Troy Products console to hold 3 radios. So far, I've managed to un-bolt the center seat / console / arm rest. I'd love to be able to relocate and re-use the USB and power outlets found in the center console. ...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

You basically have to be doing something ultra stupid to get abs to engage on dry pavement in a newer ram truck. It’s not something that’s easy or safe to accomplish really. There’s so much computer manipulation going on to optimize braking performance that it’s difficult to get the truck out of it...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

With literally every other vehicle I have ever owned, I have been able to trigger ABS on dry pavement. It’s something I like to test (under safe conditions of course) to get a sense of where the limits of grip are. With my power wagon I can’t trigger ABS. Given that other 4th gen owners have said, m...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

Got the truck back from the shop. Sounds like they didn't do much except run a code scanner and do a visual inspection. They couldn't tell me whether the truck is supposed to be able to trigger ABS on normal dry surface streets.

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

FWIW, my ‘16 is unable to trigger ABS on regular surface streets. Doesn’t matter how hard I stomp the pedal. I have about 24000 miles on mine. This is with stock wheels and brand new stock tires. I just dropped the truck off at the shop to have them go over the brakes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapa...

Cool to see others who help out rally racing. Went something like this: Me: "Comm captain, block ...

Re: What did you pay for your latest Gen PW

I'm curious if anyone has used more "structured" purchasing processes such as Costco for their PW's? -Given the relative ease by which the PW's are negotiated down things like Costco don't make sense for PW's? I used Costco for another vehicle recently and thought the process was super stress-free a...
