Re: be glad you have a pw

Well, the mechanic who now does most of the work on my PW drives a new F350 diesel and he claims his front and rear e-lockers work first time, every time. Wish I could say that for my PW.

Re: Locker Issues....

I found this while I was looking for magnetic plugs. Gale Banks on designing the optimal diff cover. Never thought much about fluid dynamics inside a diff, but this is one of the best videos I have ever seen on YouTube. Worth watching. And they did the dyno testing on a Dodge CTD. The covers for 250...

Re: Locker Issues....

I got my '05 stuck three times in deep sand in September and I could lock the front diff but not the rear diff. Tried to crawl out of the sand and the fronts were doing what they are supposed to do but the rears were just slinging sand, even with the limited slip. New transfer case position sensor w...

Bgeraurd, did you get the PM I sent your yesterday re my travels for this weekend? My schedule is changing so you need to let me know by tomorrow morning (Thursday 10/23) if you want to meet up this weekend so that I can stuff the exhaust into the back of the GMC.

Re: Rock Sliders For '05 PW?

Maple has some cool stuff, but White Knuckle looked at the truck and they can delete one mount on the passenger side to avoid my house batteries. Only caveat is that we have to use the .188 tubing to maintain strength with one missing mount. I can drive to White Knuckle for final measurements and to...

Re: Free: 2005 PW Stock Exhaust - As New

Been traveling, couldn't log on from my iPad. I will be in Yuma around 11/21 for a few days and then again after thanksgiving, and probably at least two trips in December. Schedule is fluid, but I will be there sometime. Can probably take the exhaust system if I can fit it into the truck with all th...

Re: WK Sliders - To diamond plate or not?

For those debating diamond plate, there is news! I took my truck to WK today to have John see if he could fit their sliders to my '05 with the dual house batteries already bolted to the frame. Answer is yes if they delete one mount on that (passenger) side of the truck. But that's not the news. John...

Free: 2005 PW Stock Exhaust - As New

Complete factory stock exhaust, cat-back, for '05 QCSB PW. Has less than 3M on it, been stored indoors in a box since it came off the truck. In late '05, Banks Engineering used my then-new truck to prototype their Monster Exhaust for the new PWs, and I asked them to save all the factory stuff in cas...

Re: Rock Sliders For '05 PW?

Spoke with White Knuckle this afternoon. They are willing to look at the truck and see if their mounts can be modified to work around my battery mounts. They are about 100 miles away, so will be a couple weeks before I can get over there. If they can do it, they'll need the truck in their shop for f...

Rock Sliders For '05 PW?

Have some new damage to the passenger side of my '05 Quad Cab Short Bed, and I managed to bend my N-Fab drop steps. May be repairable, but probably not, and I can't buy just one from N-Fab. So may be time for a set of sliders. Called Aluminess and they are so busy with production stuff that they won...

Re: 3G front tow hitch

I just put an ICI Magnum winch bumper on the front of my Tundra. ICI offers a front receiver that bolts onto the bumper where the roller/fairlead would go, so eliminates ability to use winch and receiver at the same time on that particular bumper. With the PW hidden mount, that shouldn't be a problem.

Re: A/C Vacuum Leak? Blend Doors?

Got some highway drive time yesterday thru the Lucerne Valley, saw ambients from 102-111. A/C on recirc took a while to cool down at the vents but eventually settled in mid-high 40s at the vents. Pulling long hills or passing kicked vent temps up to 50+, but temp dropped back quickly when I got off ...

Re: A/C Vacuum Leak? Blend Doors?

Drove the PW yesterday with new transducer and compressor and it was much better, but ambient was only low 90s. Heading out thru the Lucerne Valley tomorrow and it should be a lot hotter. Good news is that vent temps only varied a few degrees under engine load. Bad news is that A/C is not blowing as...

Re: A/C Vacuum Leak? Blend Doors?

I can't imagine you're too happy resorting to throwing dollars at it until it gives in. Not happy about it but resigned to it. I have too much money in this truck to give up on it, and I like the truck too much. I have even thought about skipping the factory A/C setup and installing a retro A/C fro...

Re: A/C Vacuum Leak? Blend Doors?

My memory tells me the door motors are electric. Your memory is correct. Figured that out yesterday, so have eliminated vacuum leak in blend doors as a possible cause. As of yesterday, my PW has a new Mopar A/C compressor and a new pressure transducer. Have not had it at highway speeds yet, but at ...

Re: A/C Vacuum Leak? Blend Doors?

when you get hard in the pedal going up hill the change in manifold pressure caused the vent doors to close then they would open when you let off the pedal. When this occurred, did the air volume at the dash vents change? When mine blows hot, I get the same volume of air but it's at a higher temper...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

The grab handle bushings are available from Geno's Garage, but they don't work on "new production" grab handles, so I didn't order them. I thought ordering a new handle (SRT-10 version with gauge pod for my trans temp) would get me "new production", but when I picked up the part at the dealer it loo...

Update is that the PW went into the shop yesterday for its annual physical, and to get it ready for the smog test. It's also getting a new pressure transducer and a new A/C compressor because I'm tired of screwing with it. System will be evacuated and flushed, condenser should be flow tested (could ...

That's because the '05s are best of breed. It's all about the panty hook.

Re: PW Emissions

Call Dennis Dillon Dodge/Ram in Idaho. They were selling PWs to CA buyers in '05, so they should know. Attached pic is the emissions sticker from my '05, purchased around 8/05. Looks like it was CA-specific at that time. The '05s may be old enough that you could still register a 49-state truck in CA...

A/C Vacuum Leak? Blend Doors?

My '05 A/C is still not working right in hot weather. Problem started last August, and persists today. Basically, when the engine is under load (passing, climbing a hill, merging into traffic, etc.), the A/C starts blowing hot. Get into the throttle long enough and the A/C will blow hotter than outs...
